“Very big railway station but nothing special”

This was a very big railway station but didn't have anything special to see or do. Easy to reach via metro lines 2 & 10.

“Large station but average”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014

First of all I do not understand why this railway station is catalogued as an "attraction". It is a functional building and nothing touristical.

We went Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station to take the train to Beijing. It took us 35 minutes from the very center (People's Square) by taxi and around 110 RMB, but you can easily get there in 40-45 min by metro (2 RMB).

You will find here, besides several thousands of people, some shops, particularly food stalls, luggage, shoes, electronics, etc., and also a food area with McDonalds, KFC, Burger King, etc.

Everything we did here was smooth and the train departed on time.

Note: just in case you need it, there are no pharmacies in this railway station.

“Close to Hongqiao Airport”

No direct flight to Suzhou, so take high speed rail after taking off the flight. It's definitely within walking distance, unnecessary to waste time waiting for taxi or take a subway

“Massive but user friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

This is a big train station about 45 mins from Peoples square, on the suburbs of town. Easy to access on the Metro 2 line. Most things are written in Chinese and English as are most announcements. There are a few ticket counters that agents speak english. Allow a lot of time to get your tickets if you weren't savvy enough to get them ahead of time. (Best bet is to pre buy and have you physical paper ticket before you get there). Loads of food and drinks available.

“Bigger than most airports”

If you are catching a bullet or high speed train to shanghai beijing I suggest you go up to 2 hours before train leaves . It is a huge place we counted 29 plateforms which had A and B . You also have to go throu security and check bags and wand over .all the food section is on level 2 so make sure you buy food before hand to take on the train as they only serve chinese food. They do serve coffee but it's not the best . They come throu with trolleys like on the planes.we picked up our tickets 2 days due to crowds and made sure were we had to go. International travellers have to show there passports . You can quite easy get lost as it is massive
