“Great location. . . weak gym”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 December 2012 via mobile

A brand new hotel with a great location near the restaurant/bars of Xintiandi and the offices on Huaihai Road. Room is excellent and spacious with large round table to do work, plenty of electrical plugs and a 'Japanese' style bathroom (separate toilet area and a combined/enclosed shower and bathtub area). Only drawbacks of the hotel would be: (1) light switch panel is hard to figure out in the dark, (2) the room service menu is limited despite the fact that there are numerous food outlets in the hotel, and (3) the gym is stuck in a strange spot in the basement - broken up into two different areas with a limited number of equipment (no weight machines, other than some free weights). Very surprising for a state-of-the-art hotel.

Great location, well appointed rooms, 5 star service, the dining offers the best of Shanghai and the west. The club lounge is well worth it, and whilst i didn't try the hgh tea looked very refined. If you like the finer things in hotel service and room features this is it.

Location is a no-brainer. The Langham Hotel Xintiandi is perfect if you seek a property steps from cool restaurants, martini bars and high-end shopping. Also if you have meetings across the street at the Platinum Building -with its many multinational company tenants- stay here.

Bigger surprise was the genuine care displayed by every member of staff with whom I interacted. A surprise because on previous business trips to Shanghai I have stayed at the Shangri-La, the Westin Bund or the Hilton - all with efficient yet distant guest service. The PuLi has great service, but not a useful location. With four and five star hotels o'plenty in this city why not stay where the facilities are good, location is great and the staff are really pleasant?

Highlights:
- Arrival welcome and escort to my waiting E-Class Mercedes transfer was a nice transition from a not-so-comfy flight (cars come with iphone and ipad)
- Complimentary upgrade to access the Langham Club was very appreciated, Thanks Langham!
- the nicest Club lounge in Shanghai: lamb, beef, dumplings, made-to-order pasta ... a few of the delicious bites available at the Lounge. Attendees readily pour Laurent-Perrier champagne or whatever tipple takes your fancy, and your glass never stays empty.
- good gym - cardio equipment, free weights and nautilus equipment - open 24 hours.
- location!

Lowlights- nothing really but for the traits of every Shanghai hotel: spotty window exteriors and the feeling that carpets and shades aren't cleaned as often as they could be (but not obviously stained or dirty).

Once again kudos to the great staff, they are the deal-breakers. No need for me to stay elsewhere in Shanghai. Friendly and informative service from Terry at Concierge, Stacey at airport arrivals, Roger at airport departures, all the Check-in staff and the the friendly Doormen. Also every attendant at the Langham Club lounge was super attentive and cheery, and I don't forget the Club chef who prepared tasty pasta dishes and carefully placed every spaghetti or penne on my plate!!

Room Tip: Get a room with access to the Langham Club lounge, a great place to start and end the day.

This is the finest hotel i which I have ever stayed ! From check-in to concierge help for an outgoing package to the bellman who wouldn't let me take a particular taxi because he didn't trust the driver, I felt like the most important person in the world. I enjoyed the privacy of the club facilities and the verve of the lobby's tea room. It was magical

Great location, fantastic modern spacious rooms, and awesome service!!!!!
Staying at this luxurious hotel makes business travel so much easier!
Great breakfast buffet with huge variety, attentive staff, easy to access Huiahai road nearby, and a 10 minute taxi ride to the Tao Bao markets.

The staff at this contemporary property are understatedly friendly. The close attention to detail is so exquisite it is almost imperceptable. The design is elegant and modern, yet somehow manages to retain a fantastic level of inviting comfort. The afternoon tea in the lobby lounge is outstanding! Great decor and amenities, including a gorgeouss basement spa/fitness center with indoor pool. Within walking distance to the best shopping in Shanghai. I will stay again - the scent still lingers!

It is a very good hotel. Professional staff. I especially like the electrical curtains, espresso machine, the bathtub and shower area and the smart toilet. If I can be very picky, nowhere in the room has lighting strong enough for doing makeup. Staff at entrance can be more forthcoming in welcoming and helping guests get taxi/transportation. I stayed here twice. Both times got cold shoulders from them. I will come back though.
