Having ridden on the magnificent Maglev it was great to have a look at the eponymous museum.

The technology enabling speeds of 430 km/h to be reached was fascinating to see. Its development in Shanghai as the first commercial Maglev in the world was interesting.

Fine models demonstrate in detail the wondrous achievements of this mode of travel.

We had three trips on the Maglev. One morning we took a return fare after 9am to experience the apogee of speed. On the day of our departure our apartment host kindly drove us to Longyand Road station for another great Maglev journey, again reaching the maximum pace.

I am writing on behalf of my Y3 class who visited the Maglev Museum last week. They absolutely loved the trip and are still talking about it.

Here are some of their points they want to share with you:

1. You must visit the museum and ride the Maglev on your visit. We went to the museum first to add more excitement, which happened when we could feel the ground shake every time the Maglev left the station (which is usually every 15 minutes) The museum is free if you have a train ticket, so go upstairs first to get one.

2. It was very quiet, we had the whole museum to ourselves so don't expect a busy day.

3. All the signs were translated into English so we could answer the questions in our quiz which was made by our teacher - this was fun so maybe adults could ask children, to keep them entertained.

4. We loved cycling on the bike to try to beat the speed of the Maglev - no one beat it! and we liked the computer game where you had to fix the Maglev.

5. There are plenty of resturants and shops near by for you to buy snacks. We recommend you go across the road to a grass area where you can play and eat with your family. Take something to play with and a mat to sit on!

6. The train ride was our favourite part. It was clean and quiet. We went from the museum to the airport for a reasonable price. Next time we would like to do a return and check the times to ride on the train when it goes at its fastest speed.

7. Take a camera! E

Everyone in your family will enjoy this experience! From 3A.

Young children love it. They enjoy the museum and train trip to airport. They explain train history including pictures of old trains and new ones.

I am a teacher at an international school in Shanghai and we decided to take our students on a trip to the Maglev museum and onto the train as we had been learning about modern technology. They absolutely loved the museum and the trip on the train. Here are some of the things that they said:

"I loved playing on the maintenance video game as it was a lot of fun"

" I liked reading all of the interesting facts about the train. I learnt a lot!"

"I liked seeing if I could pedal faster than the train on the exercise bike!"

We gave our students a quiz when we were in the museum and they enjoyed this a lot as it helped them to discover the museum in greater detail.

My students agreed that they think everyone in a family would find something in the museum interesting. We would recommend to eat your lunch in the small park across the road from the museum but to bring a football or something to play with.

Our students loved riding on the train itself, especially how the train turned. Most of us agreed that 50rmb for a single ticket was a good price as it takes just 8 minutes whereas a taxi would take half an hour and cost double that! Plus if a child is under 120cm and accompanied by an adult their ticket will be free! The students loved the speed of the train and how smooth the ride was. The seats were very comfortable too!

We hope you all get a ticket and have as much fun as we all did,

The museum is information dense and good English descriptions. Train fast about nine to twelve minutes to the airport. A little bumpy ride was a surprise to me. Expensive and cannot use a metro card which is annoying.
