“Discovering another world, a world of wisdom and patience.”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

The temple is quite hard to find if you go by metro/train, i would recommend a taxi. On the way to the temple you can find street markets full of souvenirs.
At the temple take a guide, it's cheep and can help you to explain the surroundings. At the Confucius tea temple you would be tempted to buy the tea that you are trying ( like i did) but you can find the same boxes on the street shops , and 3 times cheeper. The inside garden is amazing! I would dare to say even more beautiful then the Yu garden! Do little bit of research before you go to the temple, so you understand better his work and writings. And not last, enjoy an amazing spiritual visit!

“a worthwhile visit for finding peace in Shanghai...”
Reviewed 9 July 2012

Spent 3 days in Jiading an old water town 40 minutes by train on the outer border of Shanghai.
Now a busy satellite small city, there are areas of Jiading that are still untouched from hundreds of years ago.. I visited the Confucian Temple for a day and it was set in very beautiful surrounds...a peaceful lake with pagoda and flowering water lilies and beautiful ceremonial bridges and temples plus a well set out museum displaying the history. Very peaceful and I took some beautiful images. Visit the gardens and the 'old street' along the canals for a taste of real china of old.

“Confucianism experienced and understood...”
Reviewed 17 April 2012

In just a short time, one can become acquainted with the precepts of Confucianism and experience the serenity of this important temple in Shanghai...strongly recommended, because Confucianism still permeates Chinese life. Without being familiar with Confucianism, one cannot really make sense of much of what one is experiencing here.
