“Not a five star by any means”
Reviewed 21 March 2013 via mobile

Location is great fifth time my husband checks in my second time asked for a complimentary breakfast answer in Chinese English but u have to payyyy more! All about money huh no relationship with ppl who r loyal to the brand. Who cares but well some of us like perks here n there. Rustic smell in the lobby European manager has left n the Chinese can't even understand much English!! Rooms r dirty stained walls and washroom. Andaz has to realise its light display does not make it a five star regret not checking into langham. Even the flower display in lobby is exact same as last year! Haha! The wall when u enter the room is full of marks! Total waste of money. I advise whoever wants comfort should not opt for andaz. Try it if u want to see a display of lights changing in it washroom which starts looking tacky after a while. The rustic smell is killing me gotta get out of this room. Sigh! Longham looks so inviting across from here! Bad decision! Not all of us have money to throw around.

I'm staying at andaz suite now . Room is big but nothing and wrong design to many useless space. Looks cheap, the only one thing I love is location and free soft drinks in mini bar. Here is not worth to use diamond upgrade certificate. I recommend the next door (langham) much better and cheaper

First you just can't beat the location. Right at the middle of Xintiandi in Shanghai, it's at the heart of everything. Then the service is just impeccable. From the moment we stepped out of our car, the doorman, reception, bellboy... Everyone was very efficient and served with a smile.

Our first lunch at the hotel coffee shop proved to be a wise decision. The kids loved the dumplings. We returned happily each morning for breakfast, kids having their additional servings of dumplings while i enjoy my scrambled eggs and congee.

Two minor complaints though. First is the strange configuration of our room. They kindly upgraded us to a suite with a connecting twin room for the kids. But our suite had a bedroom and a study (?) which only had a very long desk and a swivel chair, not even a proper sofa or dining table! We wanted to invite our friends over for a chat while the children slept but we couldn't. We had no place to offer them to sit!

Second complaint was the pool/gym. Perhaps I'm a little conservative but the gym didn't have "proper" equipment. It has some really high tech looking machines and dumbbells, which felt awkward and couldn't offer a proper workout. I would have been happy if it had some simple bars for pullups and dips, instead psychedelic colored lighting around the gym and pool.

Great hotel. Wonderful reception from the staff on arrival who spoke very good English. Served me a beautiful coffee. The room was amazingly high tech from lighting, curtains, sound system, colour change shower, bath and sink. Had a fantastic view of the city. If you go all the way to Shanghai you must take the 8minute trip on the Magnetic train to the Airport. Wow it is fast... I will be back.

I liked the individual note, the service, the restaurants lot's of refreshing design details. The lobby service could be improved.

The bathroom had some technical problems that were resolved quickly.

The location is good and it is a great spot to exploit Shanghai.

A model designer hotel by Hyatt Group right next to Xintaindi. Very helpful staff members. Ordered room services and the food came very speedy with great quality. Rooms are spacious with a modern contemporary design, especially with the mood lighting in the room and the bathroom. The only drawback is that the bed is not very comfortable. I am not sure it's just me or something wrong with the mattress. I was in excruciating pain two nights in a row after I woke up. :(

We stayed at this property for four nights last week and just loved the experience, checking in was easy and the rooms were ready early as requested. The lobby is bright and contemporary in style and sits right in the heart of the Xintandi neighborhood, which has tons of shops and restaurants. The had free and fast wifi and complimentary mini bar which are nice touches. The staff was always helpful in making recommendations or giving directions. Will definitely stay here on my next trip to shanghai.
