“Great location, great vibe, few things to work on”
Reviewed 16 March 2014 via mobile

To be fair, I stay at the andaz 20-30 days a year. I keep coming back as my default in shanghai so that says a lot.

Vibe is great, modern and clean, edgy and fresh. Standard rooms can be a bit tight for Shanghai standards, but suits me well. Bed is soft and helps the jet lag just fine. Cocktail hour from 5-8 with snacks is fantastic. Only feedback is to expand the gym and breakfast choices.

This hotel is probably one of the best of its kind. The service and amenities are what you would expect from any of these top range hotels. But this one was really special: it has a really fun modern design twist from the elevator wall covered in buttons to the quirky sculptures. The room had lights that changed colour and the shower was like an outdoor tropical one. Just a great thing to add a bit of fun to a week spent away from family on business. Location is good. Try the little noodle place across the street if you're tired of hotel food.

I stayed here for the 2nd time this Chinese New Year period and the same satisfaction from the hotel. Its so close to the fun and full of New Year atmosphere. Very nice staffs except still cannot help much with taxi at times. The one thing I hate in the room was the TV not in front of the bed and that hurts my neck. Will use this hotel again.

Room Tip: If you like to watch tv in bed, ensure it is not placed on the side.

Chic decor. Classy without being ostentatious. Convenient location. Courteous staff. Bar tenders who can make a great whiskey sour. Large windows which highlight the best part of the hotel, the city it is in.

Room Tip: I was lucky and had a suite upgrade, sell a kidney to get one.

Went to this hotel for afternoon tea. Was very surprised with the quality of the food. It had a mix of dim sum and traditional high tea sets. We shared it between 2 people and it was filling and delicious.

The decor is quite modern and the place is not too crowded. Its a great place for a quiet afternoon break. The waiter that served our table was very diligent, constantly asking us whether we needed anything and made sure to give us more hot water for our tea.

Defintely recommend this place.

I stayed there for 2 nights, the rooms are great, nice housekeeping staff and rooms are clean. Spa is excellent and I end up went there 2 days...
Not too many choices for breakfast, only have pastry and egg station and charge around CNY$218... With that amount of money please try to offer more options...
The only thing needs to be improved will be the service of staff. Tried to have breakfast at 8:30 and restaurant was full and staff asked me to go to the lounge for breakfast. When I get to the lounge, no one served customers at all and they are focus on talking among themselves.... When I asked if I can sit anywhere for breakfast and they asked me to go back to the restaurant. At the end I didn't have anything at all, it's a bit unorganized.
Other than that everything is fine, location is excellent and easy to go around the city. May go there again but will not have the breakfast for sure

I have only stayed at about ten 5-star hotels before, but I wanted to do something special for New Year's Eve. Upon arrival, the service was impeccable. They asked me if I would like a late check-out the next morning because of the holiday. The room has the 'wow' factor with a giant bathroom and very large windows and an overall very modern feel. The free coffee downstairs includes a cappuccino machine that makes the wonderful cappuccinos. When going out the back door, the famous XinTianDi area is right across the street. This is the best hotel I have stayed at.
