Stayed 2 nights at the Grand Hyatt in Shanghai on a business trip recently. This is the second time I am staying at this hotel. Picked this hotel as it was across the road from the office. Check in was efficient. Room was nice and well maintained.

Room Service:I arrived in the evening, was hungry and so ordered room service. Food arrived warm and promptly. The tray collection was also prompt when I finished my food.

Breakfast : Breakfast selection was good with a good selection of local food and international. Service was also efficient and good.

Dinner: had one dinner at the Italian restaurant. Food was also pretty good and service was prompt.

All in all a good experience. Will definitely stay here again on my next business trip. However, if I am on vacation, I'll probably stay in Puxi as there is not much to offer tourist since the Grand Hyatt is within the business district.

I was very blessed to stay at the Hyatt on one of my first Asian expositions. Exceeding it's 'grand' title the elegant rooms, efficient staff, delectable breakfast banquet and luxurious rooftop pool make it difficult to go and explore the city. Once you do however it's location will get you to local shopping malls and tourist attractions by foot which is very convenient; plus there's nothing like the satisfaction of knowing you have a heavenly spa to wind down in after a full day of adventure. Highly recommend if you like to travel in style.

Room Tip: I slept on a trundle bed which was delivered to the room after we arrived. Even still, a very comfy...

The Setting: This hotel occupies the upper half of the Jin Mao Tower, soon to be the third tallest high-rise in the core of Pudong. The 20 minute ride from the Maglev station should set you back 30-50 RMB. You will be two blocks away from the entrance to the Lijiazui (Metro Line #2) station; use exit 6 to access the station (IFC Mall entrance). There is an elevated pedestrian bridge/walkway linking the metro station and Jin Mao/WFC Towers. As of end of July, 2013, this walkway was nearly completed but not yet open. Once it is open, reaching the metro will be a traffic-hazard free, quick walk. The lobby of this hotel, located on the 54th floor, is spacious and has nice views. The front and concierge desks are always well staffed. There are numerous restaurants at this property, and a panoramic bar, Cloud 9, on the 87th floor. Have a drink at Cloud 9; as a hotel guest, you won't have to pay the cover charge. The gym was nice and had impressive skyline views. I didn't use the spa/pool, so can't provide a report There is a smaller building attached to the Jin Mao Tower, with a Starbucks, so if you want to avoid the pricy breakfast and opt for a coffee and yogurt, the easy to reach Starbucks is great. Being within two blocks to the IFC Mall or four blocks to the Superbrands Mall, and their respective food courts, means that good restaurants are within easy reach, as is shopping.

The room: Mine was a king size room with city views, on the 78th floor. For a small upgrade fee, river view rooms are available, but not really necessary. My room was spacious and airy. The panorama of Pudong and Puxi are impressive from any room, I am sure. The bathroom, all granite, was fabulous. The shower had great water pressure. Bathroom amenities were plenty, but a brand name I was unfamiliar with. The cucumber-green tea soaps were wonderful. The bed was comfortable but could have been more plush. Closet space was plentiful. There was also a large flat-screen TV. Internet was fast, even at the cheaper price point/bandwidth allocation. As a Hyatt Platinum member, Internet was free, but if you aren't one, expect to pay. I believe up to three devices can be connected within a hotel room.

All in all: The Grand Hyatt is a good hotel to stay in as a base for your visit to Shanghai. If you can catch a flash sale, like I did, and snatch rooms at half off rack rates, it becomes an excellent place to stay. The concierge, front desk and management are responsive and attentive. The quality of this hotel is wonderful.

As can be expected, this hotel is difficult to fault. The hotel is new and modern, location is great (walking distance to shopping and restaurants), service is impeccable (friendly and efficient), rooms are spotless, view is great, and the breakfast buffet varied and of high quality. They gym is perhaps on the smaller side, but with good views over the city. Nothing really to complain about.

We stayed on business and had a lovely room and access to executive lounge. They provided a bed comforter as I had a bad back and thesis was already fitted to the bed following our press arrival request. Room was modern but lacked drawer space but this seems a common failing in most modern hotels. Views were great but a shame that a new
building blocked our view of the river. Lounge was good with a great selection of pre dinner snacks and drinks. However the only downside to a rating of excellence was that there was no conciege service on our check out early in the morning. I would however recommend.

Stayed a week at the Grand Hyatt in Shanghai and was very impressed. The hotel is like a small city on its own. You could literally stay in hotel and never leave for weeks, that is assuming you have a bottomless pit of money of course :) Cool bar on the 100th floor. Workout facility was fantastic. Tons of cardio, free weights, and strength machines. Free bottle water, headsets, and healthy snacks. The main restaurant offered giant buffets which were ok but were very pricey. The Italian restaurant was great and served fantastic coal fire pizzas. Rooms were sleek and modern. Unfortunately due to the smog issue in Shanghai, the view from the hotel was limited. Of course the skyline, especially at night, was amazing. The staff was wonderful all around. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Located in Jin Mao tower, the location and view are super. Last time I was in Shanghai, I stayed at the Park Hyatt next door. This hotel was cheaper, which is what I wanted to try it this go around, and you will not be disappointed. In addition to the view, and having a room on the 87th floor, the Spa/work out facilities are excellent. I also liked the service at the Grand Club, so try to get that level if an option.
