I was there last june for at least the ten times. Hourra since march they already have WIFI in the rooms. I always take a room with bund view and it is just so nice.
The pool and the gym area in the top of the Hotel with a wunderful view of the bund is just excellent.
Breakfest buffet is very nice.

Room Tip: If possible choose a bund view room

Meh. Stayed in 6 hotels during this trip. The Oriental Riverside is a is a nice business hotel. Rooms were OK and the internet was pretty good. Services were good, especially the business center. Staff was cheerful and helpful. Room was unremarkable. Location was pretty good. Selected this hotel because it adjoins the conference center. Otherwise, would likely have looked for something else.

Fairly comfortable rooms with nice amenities. Spent 7 days here for a conference in the adjacent hall in the same building. Fairly close to the Super Brand Mall and the IFC Mall with a plethora of excellent restaurants and shops. Fairly easy to catch a taxi or the subway to get around town and visit the sites. The morning breakfast offered a large buffet with many choices of food that spawn Asian cuisine to western selection. The staff was very professional and helpful but limited English speakers. The swimming pool requires swim cap which they sell and can be charged to the room. Bring your own in advance to save on the cost especially if you have kids that want to go swimming. Wi-Fi was decent but recommend getting a prepaid SIM card if you want to use your smartphones around town. No in house laundry facility which we could have useful.

Room Tip: Definitely select the Bund view.

Arrived from late flight with my daughter desperate to get some sleep before my talk next day at congress centre next door. Got to our "clean" room and immediately spotted half empty bottles of water, food on floor, toothbrushes and hair ties on sink. On asking to change rooms we were given an inferior lower floor room, no apologies or any comment from staff about this situation, unique to me after 30 years of heavy hotel use. To make matters worse we then went to sleep (very late) and got a phone call an hour later about this, that of course woke us. No apologies or anything in morning.
Next day we wanted to have a swim. On going to swimming pool in our bathers and towel we were told we needed bathing caps to swim (at about $15 each). On asking to put it on the room, we were told they couldn't and we had to pay with cash or card, something I normally take with me when I go swimming (not).
All in all, 2 'unique' experiences I have never had before at any hotel from pensione to 5 star. Despite the best efforts of the hotel we still had a great time in Shanghai!

The location is superb, if you happen to be attending a meeting at the convention center in the same buiding. It is also walking distance to the Pearl Tower and aquarium. It is a moderate walk to a big shopping mall of largely Western or Western type stores and restaurants/cafes. It is also a moderate walk to the nearest train stop. The hotel is right on the river, and if you can get a room with a river view, it is fantastic. Broad sweeping views right from your room! It is also next to a nice pedestrian path along the river, as well. Great for a morning walk or jog. But the Pudong is the Pudong. It is the new part of Shanghai. If you come for touring, then this probably isn't the best area to stay. More of the historic and cultural sites are on the other side of the river. There is an interesting insect and animal museum right across the street, which was a big hit with my kid. However, like many Chinese hotels, the specific fixtures are not quite right. The lights are not placed conveniently and the room can be dark in places. I was always searching for a towel rack and the faucets weren't always the easiest to use. These types of conveniences seemed sacrifice in favor of fancy looking accoutrements. The hallways tended to be dark and Wifi was spotty. Still, our room was spacious and sunny. The service was excellent. The hotel is not cheap, though. In fact, we paid more for our room than friends who stayed at a brand spanking new Four Seasons about 10 minutes away.

Room Tip: River side rooms have a great view.

The attention to detail is excellent. The lobby, public areas, and the rooms are very well maintained. The hotel is conveniently located, and affords a spectacular view of the Bund. The breakfast was good, but very expensive. There is little choice for a western style breakfast outside of the hotel, other than burger joints or coffee houses. The hot cookies in the afternoon, and chocolates at night are a very nice touch.

Rooms are very nice. Facilites are amazing. The lobby and lounge area are grand, very nice. The staff are very nice and helpful. Although not proficient in English, will make sure they can help. Gym area is average but still good for a workout. It is located in the sphere at the end of the building and shows amazing landscape. All-in-all highly recommended stay.
