Pudong Shangri-La, East Shanghai
Ranked #26 of 5,222 Hotels in Shanghai

I stayed for 10 nights on the Club level and I put them through the hoops with everything from helping me with lost luggage to directing me to places throughout the city. Also used the airport transport. And the excellent gyms. The service and attention to detail was nothing less than perfect. View from my floor 26 room on the bund side was fantastic. Obviously this is a large hotel and a bit sterile if you are looking for "character." But to be elegantly comfortable in Shanghai this is the place. It's not on the side of the river where the main "sights" are, but the Pudong side provides unlimited access to every restaurant and store you could imagine, and it's an easy cheap cab to the other side. The location in the Pudong center enhanced the comfort of the stay as you can avoid the (exorbitant) food prices in the hotel by just walking next door to a mall full of whatever you could want. I won't remember this place as comfy cozy but I will dream of going back for the joy of residing in such pampering and cool efficient luxury.

Room Tip: One warning, for noise avoidance check the proximity of your room to any construction, they work 24...

We stayed here in November and were very impressed with everything this hotel has to offer. We stayed on the executive floor which had huge rooms and floor to ceiling glass with views over the Shanghai Bund. The rooms were clean and very modern. The bathroom was huge and had every bathroom accessory and toiletry imagineable.

There is a bar on the 36th floor which has stunning interiors and views and is great for an after-dinner drink, albeit expensive. The waiter in the bar helped us plan our shopping trip for the following day by providing me with maps and written instructions in English and Mandarin so I could show taxi drivers the directions.

The hotel is in a very good position. It is close to a subway station and a large shopping mall. It is also close to the water where there are a number of waterfront restaurants.

The service at this hotel is the one of the best I have ever experienced (right down to the lift attendant who escorts you to the lift, swipes your room key and presses your floor number). The concierge was also very helpful for directions and local advice.

Stayed here in August. Nothing stands out as amazing, but felt my stay was perfect nonetheless. Room, Check In/Check Out, Food, Transportation was all top notch. Any questions to the concierge were met with politeness and accuracy. Highly recommend.

Everything has been said in 1,500+ reviews. For me it is the service that sets Shangri La apart. Being Met at the door on arrival from the airport transportation and taken directly to the room without a glance at the reception is so classy. Oh, and free wifi in the hotel car is very handy.

This is the hotel to stay if you wish to have an overview of the famous shanghai Bund. Located in the CBD of Pudong, one can conveniently take a ferry or rail near the hotel to get across the Huangpu River to get to Shanghai Bund. Cheng Huang Temple and Nanjing Pedestain Mall is within walking distance once you cross the river.

The room is very clean with a special aroma which is refreshing. Telescopes are available in the room for a view across the river.

Breakfast is great with oriental and western choices. It is like entering a packed food hutong. Great food and efficient staff.

Few shopping malls are nearby within walking distance. Apple store is also closely adjacent to the magnificent Pearl of Orient Tower.

I travel a lot across Asia and have stayed in many different luxury hotels in China - the Pudong Shang-ri La is still my favourite. From the moment you ente rthe hotel, you have this nice Shangri-la Parfume in the air (no clue, how they do it) and everything is taken care of from that very moment.
The hotel is in agreat location in Pudong, right next to the so called "Siper Brand Mall", which offers everything money can buy, but also a good drug store, supermarket, pharamacy and other daily need stuff. And, the hotel offers phantastic views over the river towards PuXi (The Bund) - it's just so relaxing seeing the ships passing by - specifically at night, when the Bund is illuminated.
The rooms are spacious, nice wooden furniture and very quite. Club rooms are a little more spacious, but only woth the extra money, if you use the other Club floor amneties. The staff will always go the extra mile, the service is very promt, the concierge is really knowledgable - whether you would liek to do shopping at the Louis Vitton Flagship Store or at the "fake market" in the subway station. :)
The best part is the world class breakfast atthe Yi Cafe, the main coffee shop. This is a must! Even after a one week stay, I wasn't able to eat every offer there at least once - the Cafe has really the widest choice of breakfast items I have ever experienced! Even if you usually book your room without breakfast - this hotel is the one, where you should take one hour time and enjoy it!
Only downside of this hotel: At times, specifically if there are big events in SHanghai, it's a bit on the expensive side, not to say overpriced.

Room Tip: Pay the extra money to get a room with view towards the river/bund. This makes it a real unique &quo...

I stayed in a standard room in the Grand Tower (forgot category name, but this had no access to Horizon lounge) and my first impression of the room was 'dull' - furniture and bathroom design felt mid 90's. However the room decor & design were quickly relegated to low priority as my four-day stay unfolded-

Service- every member of staff I encountered - from check-in, in-room dining, gym attendees etc.. - were attentive and genuinely pleased to help. Very different from my experiences at the Westin where I usually stay. A special call-out to the Business Centre staff who helped me book and re-book meeting rooms and prepare documents.

Location- next to multitude office towers and walking distance to high-end shopping.

F&B - In-Room Dining menu and service were excellent - fresh ingredients, quality prep and very keen attendants. Yi Cafe for daily breakfast was a great start, good buffet selection. This same venue was impressive for a client luncheon with its numerous Asian and western cuisine counters.

I would stay here again without hesitation.
