Description: Welcome to La Crêperie! Our restaurant was born in July 2007 in Shanghai. Its first aim was to bring the French community some of the most typical food from Brittany; what, as Bretons, we could only consider as a real lack in this huge city where we could already find a large variety of international cuisine… It was also our will to give the Chinese an opportunity to taste our authentic and original recipes.Today, not only the French but also many foreigners and more and more Chinese citizens are becoming regular customers. Coming to La Crêperie is about enjoying our great specialties of course. But we are also very pleased to introduce the Brittany region to the many travelers and dreamers visiting our place. This is why coming to La Crêperie is as if you were escaping from Shanghai for the time of your stay, enjoying our numerous very authentic galettes, crêpes and even fresh oysters from Riec sur Belon (famous in Brittany). You will also have the chance to drink various apple ciders while listening to Brittany traditional music in a friendly atmosphere and nautical decor. After Shanghai, Honk-Kong and Saigon were the other ports where La Crêperie decided to open. You will find there the same concept but you may discover other specialties from our region prepared by our Brittany Chef. So, if you are in Shanghai , Hong-Kong or Saigon, and willing to quit the busy and noisy life of the streets, look for the lighthouse, the symbol of Brittany that we borrowed to show you the way to safety and comfort…Welcome on board,Kenavo! In China to find something Gluten-Free is like looking for needle in a haystack and if you do find something it turns out to be way below your expectations but at La Creperie you can put all your notions aside and be prepared for a Treat.
The one I visited was at Nanjing Xi Lu inside the Reel Mall next to the New Shangri-La at Puxi, great location because this street is easily accessible from almost anywhere in Shanghai. For someone who is Gluten-Intolerant to find a perfect Crepe is a delight especially in a Country where there knowledge on Gluten is very limited but at La Creperie you don’t need to worry about anything. They have a wide choice of Galette’s which are crepes made from Buck wheat and normally these are Savory’s but if you request they also make the sweet ones. The Cheese used in these Crepes are all imported from France and you have to try the one with Eggs and Spinach, the eggs are not overcooked, the spinach is fresh and the cheese perfect, they know how to make their Crepes and they do it with perfection with the right price.
I was in Shanghai for 2 Nights and was at La Creperie twice and honestly if I had an opportunity would have done my Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at the same place, I also would like to thank Thomass who has good knowledge on Gluten and makes sure that you are served the right Crepe. Do try this place because I would rate them the best restaurant in Shanghai.

Hi Abbas,

I remember you. It was a pleasure talking with you.
We care a lot about our customers satisfaction and i m happy that I helped you abut your "gluten" related questions !
All our savoury crepes are made with buckwheat, the traditional Brittany way.
Hope to see you soon in our restaurant again !

The crepes were just ok. I love crepes and i was not that excited by them. The sweet apple cider is great, but the dry is not easy to drink!

It priced ok. We have 4 mains, 2 desserts and a lot of cider. 600RMB

Hi there,

thanks for your review. we appreciated that you wrote down your impressions on TripAdv.
could you tell us a bit more why the crepes "were just ok" ? we really focus on quality and we would appreciate if you could explain us what happened.
just email us at infosh2@lacreperie.com.cn
about the cider, next time you'll visit our store, give a try to our "Kerné" cider, its half dry half sweet, you ll probably like it better that the one you tried.
we are also really happy to announce the opening of our second store in Jing An in the Réel Mall.

Thanks a lot.

We loved the crepes and the cider. The decoration was a bit cheap looking but the food and service more then made up for it. The kids enjoyed peering into the kitchen to see what the chefs were up to. Price was reasonable considering it was located in the Reel Mall. Certainly more convenient for us then the original branch. Will be back.

Hi there !

Thanks for your review ! we will love to see you around again.
indeed the decoration is slightly different than the TaoJiang lu store but thats actually our first opening in a mall and we kind of wanted to make people forgetting about the fact they were having dinner in the mall :) , The place is decked out to look like your dining on the docks of a fishing village.

Sincerely

I'd been going to the Creperie in the Former French Concession for several years now but I'm writing about the new one that's opened a few months ago across from the Jing'an Temple. Even though it's located in the Reel department store, as you soon as you step in, you enter a unique atmosphere along a sandy line. The bar is welcoming and the tables intimate. I especially like the boat-style private table and the open kitchen! Service is quick, especially during lunch time where I recommend trying one of their sets. Special mention to the Voilier crepe!
