Had a good 3 night stay in the hotel. Front desk speaks a bit of English, room is clean and large, and services are good. Location is fairly poor but closer to the airport and close to where I needed to be for work. Recommended place for folks who need to be close to Pudong Industrial park, but not for tourists.

Another wonderful addition to the many Marriotts in Shanghai. Clean, spacious entry with attentive staff at check in. Perhaps it helps to be a platinum member: free upgrade to suite was fabulous, large double room and modern bath, executive lounge top notch.

But most note worthy besides these perks was the personal attention when my wife arrived separately later in the evening. I had a business dinner and advised the front desk she would arrive later without me. She told me later she was welcomed warmly by name, escorted to the room, fruit and welcome note in the room, and finally graciously received in the lounge. Nice touches for a high end business hotel.

Note to other Marriott family hotels in Shanghai: competition is out there.

I stayed in this hotel last Nov 17-22, 2013 for a business conference. As expected, the room and all amenities are great and always as expected of the Marriott chain. Sad to say, the front desk and Cafe Marriott service needs lot improvement. Staff are not well conversant in English (considering this hotel is a global brand) and knowledgeable of the basic hotel questions such as Marriott rewards, tourist destinations, etc.

The Shanghai Marriott Hotel Pudong East is a great addition to the existing hotels in the Jinqiao Export Processing Zone.
For tourists who want to visit Shanghai, it’s a bit too far from the city center but for business people, it’s very well located, next to a number of restaurants which are mainly focused on expats.
Staff is quite service minded although they sometimes need a little push: we arrived around noon and got the message that we could not check in yet as the rooms were not ready yet. Quite implausible given the huge size of hotel. However after a gently reminder about the number of people from our company who did stay in this hotel, ‘suddenly’ they were able to check us in immediately…
The rooms are very modern and spacious, with a shower in the middle of the room as main feature.
The hotel has a very nice bar in the lobby and a recommendable Italian restaurant.
In summary, if you need to stay in this area for business, it’s probably the best choice.
I used to stay in the Ramada on the other side of the street but it’s definitely worth to pay the few Euros extra per night in the Marriott.

Just spent 5 nights part business and part pleasure. This is a typical Marriott Hotel. Good service and comfortable room. As stated by other reviewers, it is in an expat residential/factory area. Not much around except restaurants and massage/spas. The restaurants in the area within walking distance were quite good. I like the food court at Carrefour for a quick local snack ( 10 min walk 2.5 blocks). Be prepare to take taxi or private cars everywhere. At the club level the drinks were generous, but the evening snack food was just OK. Breakfast on the 2nd floor much better than the club level. The gym was decent for a hotel. Locker room was Clean and roomy. I found the staff to be very attentive at the club level. I do not know if it was the way I look or the fact that I was Asian, they sure like to ask me my room number. But then again, it happen in the Hong Kong Marriott, also. I do not get this type of royal treatment in the US. Overall, it was a very good stay and the staff was attentive. I give it five stars. But s/b 4.5 because of the food in the club level and the staff asking me for my room number more than once a number of times.

The location is not good due to not easy to have subway but easy to take a taxi. Very far from the city center but just in the industry park. It's a pretty new hotel, and the service system is ready. Club lounge provides selected cocktails, I didn't expect that, so it's a good place to stay alone or with business partners. Basically, I'll stay here again if I visit the companies in the industrial park here.

Positives: large clean rooms; great bed; new hotel; great fittings; excellent breakfast
Negatives: a bit sterile and in a newly developed area; 45 mins to city or 1hr at rush time; no life...; picture a new suburb plaza development area in the US, similar feel... Nice but artificial.

Tips:
1.store on corner sells various good bottled beer at 1/3 of the minibar cost.
2. There's a sports bar 300 m/yards left at corner - is completely 'plastic', but has some life compared with hotel.
