Stayed here recently after missing a train and waiting till next day. The hotel is 25rmb or 10min by taxi from Hongqiao airport/trainstation and as such quite well located. Its not directly under the flight path, so the flight departures are a somewhat distant noise.
The hotel itself is inside a kind of residential 'villa' compound, so there is none of the usual street noise, such as cars honking or traders with loud speaker or lorries & trucks. If you want to make absolutely sure, get a room facing the back, where there is a little pond and also the outdoor swimming pool - which btw is fantastic, being not too hot and not overly chlorinated.
On our stay the whole hotel was quite empty, which I think is a good thing! There must have been no more than about 15 guests! The rooms are massive, and the ones to the back have a sofa area and very spacious bathroom, with separate bath and shower.
As there is nothing around the hotel, you probably going to end up eating there. Luckily the food is both affordable and good quality. They have three menus. The one to go for is the Dim Sum menu, that is good value (less than 150RMB for two people for dinner) and does not have the redicilous 15% surcharge of the other menus.
Staff are very friendly and helpful, but not all speak perfect English, so try to be simple in your communication.
Slept super well, without interruption whatsoever and went to the empty pool for a morning swim before breakfast. The poolside notice says opening hours are from 07:30-23:00, however the notice inside the building says 08:00-20:00. I went at 07:00 and no one stopped me. So I hope this is not a problem. (Dear Management, although I understand your safety concerns, I think you should let grown up people use the pool whenever they feel like, 24hrs. Just make it clear they do so at their own risk).
Breakfast was not as varied as one would have wished for, and there was a distinct lack of some items (only sponge bread, no real coffee, limited western hot breakfast, no fresh juice), but it was adequate, and if in doubt best go with the Chinese options, which were all great. I imagine due to the limited amount of guess, they try to reduce waste and offer this limited choice. So no problem there.
Wifi is free and working well in all areas, including poolside. The rooms have a mini fan, good and nicely controllable air conditioning, and a coffee maker (2 portions included free). Beds are not too firm, but not soft - just perfect (except I would have loved a little softer pillow, but it was ok). Windows can be partially opened, but I suggest you draw the light curtain to prevent mosquitoes from getting inside - although not had a problem there.
Check in and out was efficient and swift. Check room rates on ctrip, bookings etc, as the rates on the front desk are significantly higher than whats bookable through internet (paid just under 600rmb). And if you worried about getting a taxi away from there - don't. The front desk will get you one in less than 10min usually.
The hotel was completely refurbished less than two years ago, which may explain the mixed reviews on some other sites. However all is well now, and we can only hope that the continue to be well. Will come again if stuck in Hongqiao - for sure.
