The last few days of our stay in China were spent in this hotel on the 58 th floor, The view was remarkable, if it were clear it would be unbelievable. Very hi tech and located above a mall and walking distance to acrobats and Golden Buddha temple. This place would be much better if the staff was more personable, the only person would would say hello and ask if we needed help was a young man from the Netherlands who was in management.

After Shangri La in Harbin, which was already nice , this one is really high class hotel.
You enter the lobby with a delicate fragrance coming to you ; pretty girls in nice Chinese outfit , nice welcome at the front desk.
Decoration is tasty , not TOO much but showing some personality . My room was on 52th floor so if it was not for the almost permanent fog or the rain, I would have had a breathtaking view over Shanghai. This is a room where you feel at home ; it is not big but warmly and nicely decorated , great and big bed , warm and sufficient lightning. Desk where you can really work ( business trip ! ) small sofa , table with fresh fruits. Very nice bathroom with bathtub , separated toilets and shower , all amenities , heated ceramic floor ( feels really good )and towel heater which I was happy to use coming back soaked from heavy rain ; iron board, bathrobes – but there should be bathrobes for women as they are always huge - , slippers , complimentary water . Important : excellent night curtains as day starts at 4 AM . I am staying 3 days and after first night , maid has already seen which side of the bed I was sleeping , small details which count ! Good choice of restaurants, the maître de’ at 1515 was really friendly and as I wanted to dine outside showed me in to the different places . I end up at Café Liang on the terrasse overlooking Chinese kids playing in the fountain, indulging myself with a great cheeseburger and fries ( sorry I had a great Chinese lunch , I needed bread and potatoes, my French genes ! ) with a glass of wine, very tasty and good service. Breakfast is served in Café liang, great decoration and outstanding choice of food! Again great service. Chi spa : we had the experience of Rescue massage at the Shangri La in Oman , well I was not disapppointed here ! it bears its name ! I fell asleep after a full day running in an exhibition! I took another one the next day with another lady , same pleasure! The day I laft, I had some light food served in the lounge of the lobby , nice palce where I could check my mails and good service. Great location of the hotel , walking distance from several places , otherwise subways and taxis. I will come back !

If you are in Shanghai for business in this area or stopping for some shopping this is a great location, you will miss out on the river views, so if you are on a holiday maybe not ideal

That being said this is a gracious and welcoming hotel, the international staff are genuinely friendly and warm, attentive to detail and not in a rush. The room I stayed in (I think it was a deluxe which is one up from their standard) was huge, with a corner window out on to the skyline, sitting area and enormous bathroom with tv.

I enjoyed some of the little touches that created a comfortable environment compared to the charge-for-breathing approach in Europe, for example I had checked out and needed to print my boarding pass, not only did a member of staff walk me directly to the business lounge but the print was not charged for; little I know but appreciated

I did not have occassion to try the spa, but I heard it is lovely. The breakfast was vast, room service was prompt and a decent selection

Great choice in this area

Room Tip: any room is likely to be great, as this location is not about the view

Stylist and nice room deco. But there's a strong new wooden scent still.

Staff are still new and average trained - acceptable level but a bit slow when check out (indeed, very slow).

The gym room is even better than Fitness First in Hong Kong!

The best (and new) so far in Jing'an area.

Worth to try!

This luxury hotel is located right in the heart of Shanghai's "luxury corridor" on Yan An Lu, adjacent to a luxury mall and opposite the Ritz Carlton Portman Centre, so location is great.

But it has the feel of not bring purpose built as a hotel, because the lobby is small (so the front desk is too small and queues are permanent with guests checking in or out), my room was very small by Chinese standards as somewhat claustrophobic, and the breakfast Cafe was too small - I had to queue twice for 10 minutes in the morning to get a table, making my business meetings there difficult to conduct in a timely or quiet enough way - very different to every Shangrila I've encountered. The hotel occupies floors 30 upwards (though the lobby and restaurants are on the lowest 3 floors).

We went to use the business centre and it is basically in another building that is a good 10 minutes walk away, in an adjacent conference centre.

As you can walk in 2 minutes to 4 or 5 other luxury hotels, including the top rated Puli and Ritz Carlton, I'd hesitate to stay here again. And Swissotel is next door, decent and half the price.

Corridors are narrow, hotel seemed very full and crowded, and service (as usual in China where growth means staff are constantly changing) wasn't special enough to justify the prices.

Positives were dinner in the ground floor Cafe, with innovative food and a restaurant manager who was doing his best to compensate for the relatively inattentive staff. Also the Horizon Club lounge was a pleasant oasis of calm on the 55th floor. And the fitness centre has a dramatic view over the major highway flowing past the hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floors improve the cityscape views

This hotel is absolutely delightful and makes you feel relaxed as soon as you walk through the door.

The staff make you feel that you do not have a worry in the world and nothing is too much for them.

The rooms are sensational and very comfortable with design that blends nicely for the business or leisure traveller.

I travel frequently and this hotel is easily in the top 5 that I have stayed at in Asia for business and leisure.

The food is awesome (best asparagus ever)

The gym is as good as any professional gym in any major city and the pool is excellent.

The design, food quality, attentiveness of the staff and comfortable beds make this place a perfect retreat after a busy day of meetings.

The location is safe and easy to find close to Plaza 66 and the metro with awesome bars and restaurants close to the hotel.

My wife and I stayed in three Shangri-La hotels (Shanghai, Guilin, Hong Kong) as part of a Jewels of China tour with Viking Cruises. This Shangri-La was the newest and most high-tech of the three. The room was very large and was located on the 40th floor. The view was of surrounding office and apartment buildings, especially attractive at night. Our room was large with comfortable king size bed, a desk and a small couch at the end of the bed facing the large TV screen. We recently stayed in a very modern hotel on the Greek Riviera which was very automated. Just push a buttons to lower day window shade, another to lower night window shade and this room had the same system with all the buttons to control all lights, shades etc., by your pillows. The bathroom was very large with separate shower and bath and toilet section with door. When I first entered the bathroom, I saw a digital clock "embedded" in the large mirror. I also saw a TV remote control and speakers in the ceiling but no TV. When I pressed power on the remote, the TV came on and was also "embedded" in the lower part of the mirror.
Probably needless to say, the room was very clean and quiet at all times.

The hotel lobby is very spacious, the hotel buffet restaurant very good with numerous choices for dinner or lunch and hotel staff was very professional, helpful and friendly. There is a plush, large bar on an upper floor adjacent to a very high quality steak restaurant.

The surrounding area around the hotel contains, along with office buildings, many expensive stores and shops.

Due to having organized tours day and night, we did not do much walking so can't report on hotel's neighborhood in depth.. Do not miss the Shanghai Acrobatic Show-wonderful

Room Tip: Hotel has over 60 floors.
