Tea House is situated in the gorgeous Yuan Gardens in Shanghai Old town.

Worth the visit, stunning architecture and beautiful shops to buy souvenirs, you need to bargain though.

The tea house is situated in a gorgeous setting, and well worth a visit. I had tea with dumplings and some other snacks (quail eggs, uck). It was expensive, and I ended up just drinking a few of the small cups of tea - the food was awful. The atmosphere was wonderful - and I would recommend going just to sit and enjoy the view and have a cup of tea...no food.

Just outside YuYuan Gardens, this is a nifty teahouse on a lake. Looks great from the outside, and inside too, but the tea is PRICEY. No way is a bit of Oolong worth 60 RMB - Not when we got the same and a flask of hot water in Chengdu for 4!

See if you can get a coin on the statue in the water outside for good luck (if you have any money left after visiting).

We are in the industry and love travel and the Yu Yuan garden where amazing but we really felt like we where taken advantage off big time, this is not the place go to as we paid almost ten times what we paid elsewhere, try the Confucius Temple or other Teahouses elsewhere.

Right outside the Yu Yuan gardens, the tea-house is perfect for a relaxing cup of tea and some snacks. It was very quiet when we were there, so we stayed quite a while just soaking up the atmosphere and trying to work out what the snacks were that had accompanied our tea!

It seems you can make tea out of almost anything, so be adventurous and try something new! The tea is not cheap, but it does come with a selection of cute snacks which we think were quail eggs, tofu, sweet/sour olive thing, and sticky tea cakes.

If you're in the neighbourhood, then treat yourself!
