Spent one night here while passing through Shanghai.

Perfect location - nice walk along the Bund and some good restaurants nearby

Will stay here on my next trip!

The room was not very large but had all I needed

Location wise, if you book the 'river view room', then you will have a rewarding view over the Bund. The room size is generous, and the fruit basket sent to the room was a nice touch. However, the noise coming from the cruise on the river was seriously too loud. I stayed on the 10F and could hear clearly the honking, the traffic, everything.... And only Chinese channels on TV.

No complimentary wifi in room in this day and age is a big joke. I found it is ridiculous to see that guests have to use wifi in the lobby or pay extortionate amount of fee for internet access.

Also while i was forced to use the wifi downstairs, i overheard an italian guest asked the concierge for the best pizza in shanghai, and the guy just sent the guest to Pizzahut, which clearly not the best pizza. The concierge should have more local knowledge than that, otherwise whats the point of keeping them there.

The hotel was alright, the room was fine, the level of cleaning was acceptable, but is it too much to ask for someone at hotel reception to speak English? I mean, it is a hotel after all, isn't it? It made communication pretty difficult.

The hotel itself is beautiful, the rooms with a view are stunning. The breakfast is about $20 per person and is more than adequate. I'm not sure if the staff lacked more manners or English, either way a smile might have made world of difference. Absolutely no interest in helping you with any queries, although I did find this to be the case throughout shanghai. This hotel was a bit of a hike from the airport, we did a 3 day stop over in Shanghai on route to America and in retrospect Shanghai probably isn't a good stop over point. I would recommend pre-booking a private return airport shuttle, as there is little or no info at the airport in English...we only got into the city with the help of the air hostess from our flight who was on her way home. The hotel receptionist and concierge apparently don't know how to get to the airport from the hotel so don't assume they can help you. Probably wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you really want the views for a reasonable price

Room Tip: Book a room with a river view otherwise stay somewhere else

Unfortunately I had to overnight in Shanghai and my agent did the reservation since it was nearby bund and shopping area.
My words will not be enough to describe such hotel was that .. Arrived to hotel around 7 pm and there was no "left" non-smoking room. The worst receptionist I ever seen told me " take it or leave it " by offering a normal room. Was a dirty room with used condoms, so guess the rest !
Went out for dinner and came back around 9 pm just by hoping to relax in the sauna and unfortunately asked the reception " where was the sauna ? " .. The answer was , " I don't know , go to second or third floor and look around " ! I went upstairs, saw a massage saloon and asked if the sauna was there but the answer was " no " .. Than forwarded to elevator and suddenly an old Chinese lady came into and asked if I need girl / sex / massage etc.. Even the answer was so clear " no " 10 minutes later someone knocked my door. There were that lady plus two very uggly girl and a man with POS machine :) I refused them again by shouting loudlyand 10 min later the same lady came for " excusing " herself while asking for 10 $ as a tip !!!
So, as I wrote at the beginning, do not even try to visit this hotel at all..

Likes: a great location at the north end of the Bund over the Garden Bridge and right on the confluence of Huangpo River and Suzhou Creek. Unbelievable views. Interesting old building.
Dislikes: Late check-in by a reluctant disinterested sulky lady who barely spoke. No night porter (not that we needed one). Filled with noisy people, one of whom yelled into his phone for 15 minutes in the corridor at 1 a.m. Breakfast was so-so and service slow with a rude greeter on day 2. Could not get a seat for evening meal - restaurant full - maybe a function. Service generally poor. Room was small - but the view was fantastic - and it was well-appointed and reasonably comfortable. No Wi-Fi and no help to find a hotspot. Hotspots found at nearby Starbucks and Costa Coffee but as usual, a local mobile number is required. Cost compared to other hotels this trip much more expensive for a much poorer stay, but costs at this hotel were less than most other river view hotels in Shanghai. Not satisfied and would definitely not stay again despite the outstanding views. Shanghai is great, but I will stay somewhere better next time, which probably means going upmarket.

Room Tip: Book a room with a river view, which must be 5th floor and up, preferably 6th and up as there is a r...

We stayed in this hotel for one night during our business trip to Shanghai. The hotel is perfectly located near the Bund. To take advantage of its location,we booked rooms facing Huangpu River though it was bit costlier than city facing rooms. But, we were surprised to notice dirty carpet inside when we entered into the elevator.Carpet in the corridor and rooms was also stinky.Rooms and bathrooms were small and below average. Morning breakfast was OK as we got some good option to choose from available vegetarian dishes. We had some issues during check-out as attitude of hotel staffs was not at all guest friendly. Perhaps, the only good thing with the hotel was its location. So, I would suggest people to look for some other alternatives as there are very good hotels present nearby.
