Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World

I really like Shanghai as a city and the Radisson New World is one of my favourite hotels. This hotel probably has the best location of all in Shanghai and has outstanding rooms with superb city views as you go higher up the tall tower. The interior is really smart and the bath areas are really well done. They have a pretty good fitness center and swimming pool as well. Pretty good choice of food (including excellent veg options) too is available round-the-clock.

So happy to be in this hotel - clean, spacious, modern, good for business travel, room upgraded & on 26th floor w/ great city views - and a bathtub! And a front desk that speaks English. I wish I knew more Mandarin - but since I don't, English speakers are very helpful. Glad I am staying here.

Loved the city view from our 37th floor room. Having a bath was lovely after a long flight.
The room was really well appointed having tea and coffee making facilities was nice. We had a spacious room and a small adjoining office.
The staff were polite and helpful and spoke good English.
I agree with a few other reviews about the sky bar as drinks were quite expensive and you couldn't see the view over the city from your seats.
The location was great for shopping and the People's Park subway was right across the road. About 20 minute walk to the Bund. We really enjoyed Shanghai as a stop over on our return from Europe for 2 nights. It is a modern, clean and attractive city. The street hawkers in the main shopping area were a little annoying as we were obviously tourists.

A truly excellent hotel with friendly and very helpful staff. The room was on the 19th floor and in a very quiet location. Beds were extremely comfortable and the air conditioning was very cool. Clean room and very good size for a standard twin.

TV had HBO and a few English channels and the wi-fi worked very well.

Location is superb, being in the middle of all the action and near most of the sights. Metro is steps away but it really pays to take taxis as they are extremely cheap and usually available......just be sure to have your destinations available in Chinese.

Did not eat in restaurants nor use any of their facilities so I cannot comment on those services. We got an excellent rate because we booked well in advance and opted for the non-refundable rate which saved us $60 a night!

We stayed at this hotel twice on the way to and back Bali, Indonesia in December 2010 and January 2011. Location of hotel if very good - right at the Republic square, 1 minute to metro, 1 minute to Nanjing road. Rooms are quite big, first time we even had two rooms (bed and cabinet) with free wifi. But first room had no such a good view, it's better to ask a staff with a view to Republic Square, it's a little bit noisy, but it worse it. There is a bar on the top floor of the hotel, sometimes you can listen there nice jazz with drinking some coctails.

Room Tip: Ask a room on higher floor

We stayed here for 6 nights and had a wonderful time. We had 2 suites and a regular room with 2 beds (for our adult children). The suites were excellent - very roomy with great views. We had excellent service, especially from the concierge, who had many helpful suggestions. The breakfasts were good, although prices are what you'd expect for a 4.5 star hotel (100-150 RMB). Our kids said the fitness centre was excellent.

Wired and wireless Internet was included, although slow at times. Prime location across from the Nanjing Road pedestrian shopping mall. There was also a train/metro station across the street, although the taxis are so cheap here that we never got on the metro! I would certainly recommend this hotel.

One tip - we did not enjoy the pricey day trip tour that we booked to Huangzhou. It is at least 3 hours by bus each way, and for the limited time that you spend there (a brief cruise on West Lake, visiting the temple and then a tea village) it is not worth the effort. Better to go on at least an overnight, or else take the fast train instead and book a day tour from there. I should say, however, that the visit to the tea village was very interesting and a highlight of our trip.

Another tip - the double-decker BigBus stop is located just across the street from the hotel. For 100 RMB for a day (or 300 RMB for 48 hours, which includes admissions to some attractions), the BigBus takes you on a tour of the major attractions of the city, and you can hop on and off whenever you like. Because there are 3 routes, the whole trip can last as long as 4 hours. Excellent value for a quick overview of the city.

Room Tip: Suite 2513 slightly better (space/view) than 2505

This hotel was centrally located and extremely close to Nanjing Road and other CBD areas. My only gripe is that i found one or two of the front desk staff to be rude and was made to feel that i was part of a low paying group booking (which i was) and hence not much attention will be paid.Other than that from door man to server everyone was courteous and we also got an opportunity to say hello to the General Manager of the hotel during his breakfast rounds.
Rooms were quite small as one would expect on a city hotel, even the suite i was upgraded to due to non-availability of a non-smoking room felt quite cramped. Our hotels in Xi'an and Guilin were much spacious compared to this Radisson. But overall experience was great and would certainly recommend i to people.

Room Tip: any floor above 10 gets great views
