“Great stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2012

After reading some not so flattering reviews on tripadvisor, we weren't sure what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised.
Shanghai was our final destination after about 14 days in China, and not one other hotel had free in room wifi. I find the cost of wifi is one of my pet annoyances when travelling! Being able to access free wifi in the room, makes planning the day in a foreign city, so much easier.
We were on the 34th floor and had great views and found that the hotel was well located in relation to the subway and Nanjing shopping street.
Our flight left at 7.45pm and asked if we could have a late checkout, thinking we might get an extra hour at most, so I was again pleasantly surprised when the supervisor gave us until 3 pm.
I would definitely stay here again when next visiting Shanghai.

Third trip to Shanghai and third time at this hotel
Great value and always clean, comfortable and reasonable.
As already stated the location is excellent.
Always had a clean and comfortable room. Never once seen the housekeeping staff but yet my room was always cleaned when returning by the early afternoon.
Restaurant was on the slightly higher price range and really only bad thing I can say is that the scrambled eggs on the breakfast buffet were like water. Restaurant staff a little slow but always helpful. All the staff was very friendly and helpful.
I would highly recommend this hotel for sightseeing and shopping and a comfortable stay.

Very short stay, grand reception area, so expectations for the room where accordingly. Big disappointment, rooms quite small and cramped, bathroom very small and dated. In this price range actually unacceptable and there are far better and cheaper alternatives in Shanghai.

This hotel is right in the heart of Shanghai, right on People's Square and East Nanjing Road shopping street. You can walk to the museums, the Bund and basically most of the stuff you want to do as a tourist in Shanghai. We were a bit worried that it looked a bit naff when we booked it - and it kind of is but in a nice familiar, funny way - check out the sky bar for ultimate kitschy entertainment. The rooms are comfortable, views are great, staff extremely helpful and it is such a great treat to be able to have a swim after a sticky day out exploring. Really recommend for first time visitors to Shanghai. venturing out of the hotel - we also had some great food at Table No 1, lovely drinks at Glamour (once you get past the name it has fantastic cocktails and beautiful views), and an excellent view and food from Jade on 36 and then more scruffy but great value and delicious hunanese at South Memory. Enjoy your trip!

This property is in a great location adjacent to People's Square but does not deliver the quality of stay that can be experienced at numerous other hotels in the area. The rooms are okay, in terms of size but not sufficiently comfortable and lack a few essentials, such as an effective WiFi network. Food served in the main restaurant is distinctly average. The layout of the public areas is quite baffling and the staff just a little too unfriendly. If you need to stay in this part of town, there are at least two better options within walking distance.

We stayed in this hotel for two weeks just before Easter and had a wonderful time. There is an amazing revolving restaurant on the 45th floor and we have a very romantic dinner there.

This is a very modern hotel and bang in the centre of where it all happens¬

The hotel staff were very helpful and kindly wrote the address' of where ever we wanted to go in Chinese for the taxi driver.

Room Tip: The higher floors have amazing views across the city.

Great location for tourists or business person. This central location is adjacent to a shopping center and across the street from s subway station. it is also at the start of the pedestrian mall on Nanjing Rd - interesting walk all the way to The Bund. Walking distance to two of the best museums. Taxis are reasonable in Shanghai. The concierge service is excellent. The only negatives: storage space (lack of drawers or shelves) is limited; restaurants are pricy in the hotel. Howwever, the surrounding area has many local restaurants as well as the usual international fast food options. Ask the concierge to point the way to a local Shanghai dumpling shop where a dozen dumplings were a mere $2.50 US.

Room Tip: A higher floor will offers nice city views.
