I have been staying at the Longemont(formely Regent)for the past 4 years having previously stayed at many other 5 star hotels.
The longemont represents great value for money,i stay in an executive room, which are well appointed and comfortable. The Exec lounge is quiet and often a great place to work rather than stuck in your room.
Lovely pool and gym.Only downsides are the restuarants which arent the best but then there so many great places to eat in shanghai this shouldnt put you off.

My first stay in Longemont SH was back to 2008 when it was still operated by Regent. It is one of my most frequent stay hotel (around 20 stays) in Shanghai. Overall the hardware and service are still maintained at good level.

Room is comfortable in general, except occasionally AC didn't work very well and sound proof isn't good enough. In executive lounge, staffs are generally helpful. The breakfast and happy hour cocktail there are both good. However, if you are having breakfast at 2/F, you might find service isn't good there.

Hotel gym is big and fully equipped. It is still keeping at good condition. Swimming pool is nice too, you're able to see part of Shanghai while you are swimming.

Also want to mention the hotel restaurant, AMICI and Royal China are recommended choice. Because the hotel locate next the highway, there are not many eating place next to it, I usually eat inside hotel after work. AMICI is an Italian restaurant with good quality food, very Italian. Royal China is a good place for Chinese dumpling.

Unless you must stay in large western brand hotel, otherwise do give it a try.

Room Tip: Corner room with 42 sq mtr, arrangement is no good Stay in executive floor better Personally don...

we stayed here and were very happy with the ambience of the hotel and the rooms were large and roomy . there is a good choice of resturants which were reasonably priced. There is also a Tennis Court and Swimming Pool. The hotel is about a 10 min drive in taxi and given taxis are cheap i would recommend this property to those who would like a quieter more up to date hotel.

Room Tip: we always ask for a higher floor room

I arrived at the Longemont at around 9pm and I had booked an executive room. All of the staff at the hotel were knowledgeable and attentive during check-in and throughout. I was provided with a complimentary upgrade to a suite which was great with more than enough space for just 1 person. Checking in so late, and checking out early next day to catch a flight meant that I had little time to relax and benefit from the room. I briefly used the executive lounge to grab a drink and catch up on some emails, although I found it strange that an alcoholic drink could not be provided in the lounge (somewhat different to other exec floor/lounges in western hotels). The room had a great shower, bath and an even better night-time view of Shanghai.
The next day I woke up early, went for some breakfast at the well-equipped restaurant and left for the airport.

In summary, it was a delightful stay. Next time I'm in Shanghai I would definitely stay at this hotel again - and hopefully next time I will have more time to enjoy it.

Room Tip: Exec rooms seem to be worth it if your budget can stretch

The Longemont Hotel is near the French Concession in Shanghai. On the plus side, the rooms are nice, large and they do a good job of keeping them clean.
On the negative, we found the staff OK, but not super helpful. The hotel was quite busy and they seemed fairly stressed, unlike other hotels in which we always felt well taken care of.
We spent two weeks in China and really enjoyed the breakfast buffets. The Longemont was our least favorite. It was large and spread out, without the quality or quantity of foods we had come to expect.
Finally, we didn't like the location as much as other hotels we had stayed in.
Bottom line - good hotel, but we would probably try finding another hotel in a different part of town for our next trip to Shanghai.

I think this hotel provides excellent service and has all the features you would expect from a hotel in this category and price range.

The room was very spacious, clean and decorated in a modern style. It has pretty much everything you need for business travel. There is a big flat screen TV with 2 English movie channels including HBO, a mini bar, a water boiler, free sets of bottled water (and more if you give house keeping a call), a safe big enough to store a 15" laptop, etc. The work desk and adjustable chair are definitely suitable for longer periods of work. Internet access is complimentary and both a wired and wireless connection are available.

The bathroom was spacious too. It had both a bath and separate shower, including a rain shower.

There are however small things that could be improved as well though.

I think the room design got preference over functionality. At times that was really annoying. Controlling the lights for example. You can't control most of the lights individually it seems and when you switch on the light in the bathroom, some other lights go on too. Not a big deal, but I wonder why this couldn't be done differently.

I think the metal box for the soap bar is downright dangerous. It is an extremely simple design with pretty sharp metal edges. If you put wet soap in it, it'll stick to the bottom. When trying to pry it loose you need to be careful not to cut yourself, so I didn't use it.

A bigger annoyance is the price of the breakfast buffet. With 298 RMB this is outrageous. I don't care how much food is offered for that price. I usually want a decent, simple, breakfast. As not uncommon in hotels, individual items are priced so highly that even a basic breakfast is more costly than the buffet. That is not a coincidence of course.

Instead, I can recommend a very small bakery just a few minutes away from the hotel. It is called "Wash Bakery". No, that is not a typo. A bit of a funny name for a bakery, but the bread is excellent. They sell several European types of bread, as well as the more traditional Chinese types of bread. The European bread is really good and if you like you can combine it with a good coffee (latte, espresso, etc) plus eggs, ham, etc to make for a simple, but tasty, breakfast.

The place is a little hidden though. When you exit the hotel, take a right and walk along the very busy street. Keep on looking to the right because soon you will see a 2 story restaurant. The bakery is to the right of it. It is actually easier to spot when you walk back to the hotel.

There is also a Starbucks within 5 minutes. Take a left when you exit the hotel and follow the busy road. It is located on the ground floor in an office building on your left.
