This was our last stop with our tour and was similar to the other hotels. Shower over the bath is handy as we needed to do washing. Free wifi in lobby and restaurant was great. Lovely breakfast, extensive range of food. No idea about the location as we didn't walk anywhere. Loved Shanghai, such a range of contrasts from old to very new.

We spent three nights at this hotel as part of a tour group and I have to say that if I had a choice this would not have been it. The hotel is very tired and lacking attention, however it is, to be fair, clean and comfortable. It is situated a long way from anywhere, the main attractions/sights are a good distance from this hotel. The general area around the hotel has nothing to recommend it at all although it is good for seeing how the locals live. The staff were friendly and helpful if you could find someone that spoke reasonable English. The dining room was shabby and the food was reasonable at best, I can only assume costs were the guiding factor in the choice of this hotel.

Average hotel who's foyer promised much but the rooms delivered nothing. They were clean and basic. Firm beds. Very good selection of toiletries. The hotel is situated some distance from shopping areas.

Room Tip: Try somewhere else

This is a comfortable middle of the range hotel with nice rooms and, of course, the usual hard beds (but these didn't worry us). Double glazing keeps the noise of traffic down, but you could hear the shower running in the next room. Another minor issue concerned the failure of our door access card on a couple of occasions (but fixed each time without question). The buffet breakfast was good (including eggs cooked to order), although it does finish at 9.30 am.

However, our biggest issue concerned the location of this hotel. We were here because it was booked in conjunction with a Wendy Wu tour. For a night or two, perhaps the location doesn't matter greatly especially if a tour is handling your sight-seeing and the like. However, we arrived in Shanghai a couple of days before the tour commenced, so location was an issue for us. It's described as being in the Shanghai Train Station “area”. I'm not sure what “area” means in this context, but it is at least 10 minutes walk from the train station, assuming that you know where you're going (longer if you don't!), and it's on the other side of the station to the main part of the city. It's between 2 Metro stops, so is a brisk 5 or 10 minute walk to the nearest, with the result that we ended up relying a lot on taxis (which are readily available and not expensive, so long as you have your destination written in Mandarin - reception will help with this). Although there are restaurants and shops close to the hotel, you don't get the same range of choices that you get closer in to town. There is a bus stop close by, but as route descriptions and destinations aren't given in English, buses aren't non-Chinese-user friendly.

Stayed here with a tour company. It's quite a distance from the centre of Shanghai. The rooms are clean and maintained quite well. However, the whole place is very tired looking, particularly the restaurant.
Breakfast is extensive and includes freshly made eggs or noodles. We found that the Chinese hotel guests were treated with more attention than the western guests.
