The rooms are in need of updating. The workout space is in need of something more then just three cardio machines. Be advised that to find a good place, not fast food, to eat, will be a serious challenge. As it is said you get what you pay for! But for what you pay for the price seems high.

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay. I apologize if you had any difficulty finding anywhere for dinner. Although we do not have any chain restaurants in Sylacuaga, we do have a few great ones that are not fast food. We will be sure to put that list together for you for the next time you travel here!

Clean hotel and mostly friendly staff. Do not leave valuables in your room. Thief among the housekeepers and they continue to let her work there. They know she walked out with a $400 ipad. Front desk workers are nice.

Thank you for your wonderful comments regarding our nice and friendly staff. For the 6 plus years that the Hotel has been open we have always looked forward to the Miss Alabama Outstanding Teen Pageant in March.
I want to apologize for the inconvenience you encountered during your stay. Each employee that comes to work here does have a thorough background/history check. We do not hire anyone that has a criminal history of any kind.
You did inform us after departure that you were missing your I Pad and we thoroughly searched the room as well as our Laundry area and Housekeeping carts to see if anything was found. All employees that worked that day were also asked if they saw the I Pad. Any employee that leaves the Hotel with a bag, whether it is their purse or a bag, is stopped and that bag is looked at prior to them leaving the building. No IPAD was found and the Police Department was contacted per your request.
We as a Hotel never know what guests bring in and out of the Hotel each and every time they come in. There is no way for us to know if an item is lost somewhere else or here. Unfortunately the common thing for people to do is automatically accuse the Housekeeper from wherever they were staying. This is unfair to both that person as well as the Hotel.
We again apologize and hope to see you and the Miss Alabama Teen Pageant again next year.

Though clean and comfortable, light sleepers beware that the ceilings thud and creak with every move of the guests above you. 3rd floor is only option for guests who are easily awoken or hard to sleep with noise

Flooring shows age. Corners dirty. Breakfast lady seemed unhappy. Stains and dings abound on furniture and flooring. Not terrible, but certainly noticeable. Friendly desk staff. I suspect the fact that the nearest major chain hotel being 15 miles away may contribute to substandardness.

The hotel is called a holiday in express, but the accommodations are more like a days inn. Serviceable but not fancy. The breakfast was as good as any other holiday inn express, however. Just the rooms and the lobby were a lower grade then you usually get in a Holiday Inn express. My room smelled odd. Like paint, or some sort of cleaning product. I got used to it the longer I stayed in the room. The people that worked there were nice.
