This was the hotel we chose for our overnight stay the first and last day in Costa Rica, due to its proximity to the airport. It was like coming home before we left for home. The staff was extremely helpful in making taxi reservations both before we left for the Caribbean and when we returned. I had a very early flight the next morning and the mother at the hotel made a boxed breakfast for me so I wouldn't be hungry. That was a special touch that made me feel delightful. The prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone.

Staff extremely helpful and honest. These folks know how to take care of their guests. Nothing too fancy or showy but just down home clean.

In one word:
Home

In a sentence:
Think of the ideal home and what it means. To me it means: Warmth, people I love, being taken care of, coziness, serenity, comfort, cleanliness and joy.

Should I say more?
The place itself is lovely - the rooms (we stayed in 3 of them, as we went in and out 4 times - using Villa Dolce as a base to our endeavors) were clean, beautifully designed and decorated and very spacious. Equipped with TV, closet, coffee machine, hot shower with good flow of running water, excellent beds (I suffer from back aches and had great night sleeps there), etc.
Everything you'd expect from a great family-run hotel.

The location for us was ideal - not too far from the airport, but not in the center of town. Close enough to the highway to serve as a base to our excursions into the beautiful Costa Rica.
The free breakfast is tasty and sufficient.

But, if the facility, the location and the food were great, they pale in the face of the people who run and work in this place. Starting with Maria and her husband and their charming daughter Jessica. These people are so generous, no-b.s, direct, funny and full-of-heart - it is unbelievable! The length they'd go to help and take care of their guests is admirable, and doubly so in the face of an environment which sometimes tries to take advantage of tourists. Just as an example - Maria makes a point of making sure that guests who arrive to the hotel by taxi are not overcharged. We traveled the world end-to-end, and have never met people who are so committed to the well-being of their guests.
And as those things tend to happen - their staff is just as charming as they are. Especially their receptionist Ginger - a lady of heart and wits.

Each time we came back to the hotel from anywhere else - we were filled with joy and relaxation just crossing the gate. Often we couldn't help ourselves, and as cliche as it sounds - we said: "It's like coming back home". As you know - cliches are truisms. This means - they are true...

This hotel, although situated in an average part of alajuela, is truly a gem. The service and amenities are wonderful. The staff and managment treat you as if you are one of their own family members. The morning breakfast is wonerful, delicious coffee, fresh fruits and eggs, juice and toast. The pool is immaculate and relaxing. The hotel has very clean and comfortable rooms, complete with calbe TV and wifi internet. You won't find a better deal for your dollars.
