Description: This restaurant had the best food and service of all the places where we ate in Costa Rica. Family owned and always on site. Cozy, very clean, and surrounded by beautiful vegetation. Friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend the casados, a local dish - delicious! I ate it in other restaurants but it couldn't be compared to Chubascos. I swear I could eat that every day. For dessert, try the home made apple pie (Costa Rican apples) and the arroz con leche. Ah, and do not forget to try their natural fruit drinks. Their coffee is pretty good too.

Great Gallo Pinto and tortillas, both Spanish and the corn ones. Beautiful atmosphere. Prompt and courteous service.

“Fantastic place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

I was just at Chubascos on saturday and the place is fantastic for several reasons. First, it's location is fantastic and beautiful. Second, the decor and layout of the restaurant is fantastic, and most important, the food is awesome, especially the soup special they do on saturdays. All the food we had was just awesome, and felt like a truly home cooked meal. The outdoor seating is great, and the indoor seating is very nice, especially with a view of the large open kitchen. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone that visits the san jose area. Loved the place!!!

“Amazing gardens and Cheesecake!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

The service was fantastic, the servers had all stopped by to check on us during the meal. I love the quaint atmosphere, a lot of the cooking is done on wood burning stoves, so there is the smell of campfire , if you don't want that, you might want to sit inside. Anyway there is a lady (at least when I was there) making and cooking homemade tortillas on an open air cooking stove. So on to the food, I had a pretty good size plate of the Chubasco eggs (it was about $5) and my wife had the cheesecake. I thought my food was great (and it was) but the cheesecake alone is worth the 40 minute drive. I recommend with the blackberries (because strawberries are all over the place in CR, the blackberries were a treat!). To make it better, the restaurant overlooks a beautiful walking grounds with amazing floral displays with signs giving the names of each variety.

A great food stop on the way to or from Poas or Peace (La Paz) waterfalls.

“Very Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2014

Service is amazing, people is very pleasant. Food is Very good (I only had breakfast) The rooms are very nice, detailed. The only thing missing is a phone in the room, because there is almost no reception and if you need to make a call or order in food, you wont be able to do it with your cell. Overall I liked it a lot.
