“Stayed 1 night, thank goodness!”
Reviewed 1 July 2009

We stayed at this hotel on the last night of our trip. We chose this hotel due to its location...a few minutes from airport. Thank goodness we did not start our trip here. The room was roomy with 3 beds (1 for each of us) but it was musty. The air condition worked but the bathroom was gross. There were ants all over the sink and bath towels, which smelled. There was hot water but becareful because it is HOT. The bathtub had a ring around it and it looked like dirt. Breakfast was buffet style (typical bfast) and good. There was a computer room with 2 computers. We did not venture out and we did not use the swimming pool. The hotel will coordinate a taxi to take you to the airport but after waiting about 30 minutes, I had to ask about our taxi and they asked an employee to take us.

Here is my story: We needed a place to stay near the airport. We were not looking for anything fancy. this place IS NOT FANCY! However, it fit our needs for the night. Place was clean, food was good (must try chicken soup), and the people were as nice as they could be. It was the eqivalent to staying in a plain hotel at home. A place to sleep, eat, and bathe. We checked out the next morning and the owner drove us to the airport...sweet! I can't complain......I've seen much worse.

Place we originally wanted to stay was booked up and it was getting late so we settled on the Hotel Aeropuerto because of its nice location relative to the airport. This experience almost single-handedly ruined our otherwise awesome trip to CR. Rude and ignorant staff, way too expensive at $93 for the night, smelled bad, looked bad, noisy, AC only half-worked, shower was like a fire hose, scalded my foot trying to get the shower to work. Should have slept in the car.

This hotel is defiantly not worth the money. At $80 USD a night we could've done much better. The rooms smelled of mold because the brilliant people who designed the rooms decided carpeting was a good idea for a humid environment as Costa Rica. My husband and I had a room with hot water and A/C but my parents' room A/C was on the fritz as was the hot water.

The breakfast was good. But the dinner service was awful once my husband began to speak Spanish to the waiter (he's a costa rican national). Funnily enough, the waiter was so sweet to us prior to my husband revealing his origins. This tends to be the trend in CR wait staff.

The night staff is not helpful whatsoever. I didn't stay long enough to witness the day staff's competency.

On the bright side, it has secure parking and a really good breakfast buffet included in the price.

Needless to say, I won't be staying there again.

Stay here the night you arrive in Costa Rica in a plane, or the night before you leave. It is minutes from the airport, and it is a locally run spot, not a chain. The atmosphere and folks here are real Ticos, so you'll start your trip out adjusting right away. Breakfast is included...it's simple, Tico fair... gallo pinto, maduros, cafe, pan, fruta, etc. The staff seemed to know some English, but not in depth. Luckily I am bilingual, so we just stuck with Spanish. The rooms are very simple, but if you are just spending the night, that's all you need. Not luxury, but suitable for the purpose. Easy to get taxi's to and from.

Only reason we stayed here was we changed our itinerary the day prior and the hotel we wanted to stay at doesn't have any room. So, we randomly searched the internet, and found this hotel based on nothing more than its price and availability. The place felt deserted, with a front desk that was more interested in the soaps they were watching rather than checking us in. They even had a pool but was covered in leaves. The room was down dimly lit hallways with rooms that have the bare minimum. It didn't help that later that night, we watched The Ring on tv.

Only bright side was the breakfast was decent and the chef was a very friendly woman.

My wife and I arrived in Costa Rica and our luggage didn't! We realized we wouldn't be able to travel to our planned hotel... so we went to the nearest hotel. We were pleasantly suprised when we arrived at Hotel Aeropuerto. The staff is very friendly, the security is tight, and the rooms were clean. The food (breakfast was included) and service in the restuarant is excellent! We enjoyed our stay so much that we returned later in the week to catch our early morning flight. Highly recommended.
