“A Gastronomic Journey!!!”
Reviewed 19 August 2013

Saying that they don´t have a menu is not completely true, I would say the menu is not printed and is very flexible. Alvaro (the owner and executive chef) will offer you 4 main bases; beef, ribs, fish, sea food, all of them prepared with different sauces like tamarindo, chocolate, pineapple and others, then you can choose from vegetables, mushrooms, pasta, and all kind of different combinations, Alvaro will suggest flavors according to your taste, but he won´t limit your imagination if you want to get creative about combinations and flavors.

Don´t forget to ask for the starters and the desserts, they are amazing!

“This was on overall superb experience!!!! Best restaurant experience I have EVERYONE had!!!”
Reviewed 15 August 2013 via mobile

This restaurant has no menu. The chef/owner is beyond welcoming, as is passionate about his culinary concoctions. He will give you a brief overview of what they offer but will hand craft your dosh to your liking. This is one of if not THE BEST most posh restaurants I have ever been to. Most of the food and herbs are raised & grown by himself. Almost everything is natural and organic. 10/10!!

“Great for Alajuela!”
Reviewed 4 August 2013

This restaurant is a nice choice for food in Alajuela. There are only 1 or 2 other really nice restaurants there. Finding it was easy thanks to directions provided by others. The service was excellent and personal. Prices are a bit high for the food, but I have to admit the beer prices are very reasonable...drink up! There is no printed menu which makes it very difficult to make decisions. They should either print menus daily based on what they are preparing or utilize a chalkboard or two. Please do not use a whiteboard. Pasta is home made and sauce good. We were provided some ceviche to start which had a number of sauces, all of which were good. The ribs in tamarindo sauce were excellent also. Someone else suggested cloth napkins while we were there and we agreed. We understood that locals prefer the thin paper napkins and visitors cloth or linen. If you are in Alajuela for a day or two, this is a must visit, along with Jalapenos.

“Definitely visit if you're in Alajuela!”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant and its owners. The food, the service, the charming space - everything was perfection. Yes, it's a bit tricky to get to, as it's a bit outside of Alajuela proper, in a residential neighborhood with a faded sign out front, but man, was it ever worth the trip. Their mussels and passionfruit semifreddo are both melt in your mouth delicious. The chef and his wife are both totally hospitable and willing to spend time discussing their food with you. The restaurant was the end to a fantastic first day in Costa Rica.

“Another extraordinary meal”
Reviewed 3 July 2013

This is not your typical Costa Rican restaurant because the chef doesn't just cook - he creates. We told the chef we were in the mood for fish. We gave him no other direction. We had his ceviche accompanied by 4 fruit sauces to add to each taste. Next came bite size pieces of octopus with pineapple and black sesame seeds. This was followed be his famous mussels in a sweet and pungent sauce. Next he blew us away with shrimp laid in a tomato cup with a wonderful yogurt sauce. The entree was a thick piece of salmon on top of baby carrots and a teriyaki style sauce. It was served with fresh sautéed vegetables with two side sauces of chocolate and a fruit sauce. Dessert was a sweet rice with chocolate. This was an unbelievable meal. Worthy of any fine resturant in North America. We are looking forward to our next visit.
