My friend and I went and visited this place and it was an absolutely gorgeous hotel that is right by a river, and has a beautiful pool. As two girls in our twenties that traveled alone, It was great because we both felt extremely safe at the hotel and its surroundings. The family that owns Villas Escondidas took us in and treated us like family. They drove us around the city touring the local shops and even hiked to a waterfall with us. I would definitely recommend beginning your trip at this location so they can direct you on the best places to visit across the country!!

We had a great experience at Villas Escondidas. Grecia has the best weather in the wolrd. The rooms are simple, clean Tico style and really nice tiled showers the bathrooms. Very nice staff brought us everything with could ask for and even brought out some strange looking, great tasting tropical fruit we enjoyed. There is a suspended basket chair tied to a high branch of a tall tree near the river where you can sit and listen to the river and all the life around. And yes, the chair has a cup holder.

Totally lush enviornment with luxury at very reasonable rates. We'll be back. Go there.

We have just returned from an amazing 10 days in Costa Rica, traveling a fairly large circle and ending out stay at Hotel Villas Escondidas. After traveling all day we pulled to the gate and tooted the horn.... at the minute the gate came open, we all fell in love! This is a paradise nestled in the hillsides, a hidden gem! Our rooms were the best of our whole trip! The were large, clean and offered outstanding comfort. The pool and restaurant/bar area are so inviting. We felt so welcomed by the owner of the grounds, he was more then hospitable and an amazing person to talk to. I believe we found our new "first" stop in Costa Rica. There is so much to do within a short trip in any direction from this site. We were all glad that we found this spot yet so disappointed we only had one night and day left to spend there. We enjoyed the best breakfast of our trip here. I can't wait to stay again next February! Thanks Julio for your generosity!

Villas Escondidas is a welcome reprieve from the hustle and bustle of a busy trip! It is centrally located making day trips hassle free. Julio, the owner and his staff are so welcoming at the end of your day! The grounds are beautifally maintained and the rooms are super comfy. This was our first visit, but we will be making it a regular stop in our yearly vacation.

This beautiful hotel is peaceful, quiet and very clean. The food is great and the price is even better. You don't want to miss this tranquil place! Throughout our lengthy stay in Costa Rica, we ended at Villa Escondidas three different times, each time feeling as if we were returning home!
We happened to meet Julio, the owner, while at the bank when we first arrived in Grecia. He ended up taking us on a tour of the area, including Sarchi. When you arrive in San Jose, I highly recommend that you take time to settle in, and this is the place to do it. They will fill you in on pretty much everything you need to know about visiting and traveling in Costa Rica. In addition to their great hospitality, they took us into Alajuela to find a rental car. We dined together, told stories, and became family! If you need a ride to or from the airport, they can arrange that too.
The next time we go to Cosa Rica, we will again make Villa Escondidas our home base! We will miss Julio and Isabell (Dr Isabell, because she has a natural cure for everything!) and can't wait to return.
