Last year we traveled in Costa Rica for a few weeks. 3 adults and 2 children. By accident we found this place that turned out to be really lovely. We returned there a week later and were welcomed like old friends. Really nice rooms, a pool and a meal when you don't expect it.
A waterfall at the rim of the lawn makes it truely romantic.
We hope to return there one time.

First, all of the reviews about the hospitality of the owner are true. You will feel welcomed. By American standards, this hotel is a true bargain. The hotel is centrally enough located to see many of the best attractions in the central valley within an hour or so drive. Who this hotel is not for: if you must have four star amenities (but then again, you wouldn't get that for this price point) or if you must be within walking distance of a town (this hotel is not unless an hour walk up and down hills is within walking distance for you). A taxi to Grecia from this hotel is about US $6.

My friend and I went and visited this place and it was an absolutely gorgeous hotel that is right by a river, and has a beautiful pool. As two girls in our twenties that traveled alone, It was great because we both felt extremely safe at the hotel and its surroundings. The family that owns Villas Escondidas took us in and treated us like family. They drove us around the city touring the local shops and even hiked to a waterfall with us. I would definitely recommend beginning your trip at this location so they can direct you on the best places to visit across the country!!

We had a great experience at Villas Escondidas. Grecia has the best weather in the wolrd. The rooms are simple, clean Tico style and really nice tiled showers the bathrooms. Very nice staff brought us everything with could ask for and even brought out some strange looking, great tasting tropical fruit we enjoyed. There is a suspended basket chair tied to a high branch of a tall tree near the river where you can sit and listen to the river and all the life around. And yes, the chair has a cup holder.

Totally lush enviornment with luxury at very reasonable rates. We'll be back. Go there.

We have just returned from an amazing 10 days in Costa Rica, traveling a fairly large circle and ending out stay at Hotel Villas Escondidas. After traveling all day we pulled to the gate and tooted the horn.... at the minute the gate came open, we all fell in love! This is a paradise nestled in the hillsides, a hidden gem! Our rooms were the best of our whole trip! The were large, clean and offered outstanding comfort. The pool and restaurant/bar area are so inviting. We felt so welcomed by the owner of the grounds, he was more then hospitable and an amazing person to talk to. I believe we found our new "first" stop in Costa Rica. There is so much to do within a short trip in any direction from this site. We were all glad that we found this spot yet so disappointed we only had one night and day left to spend there. We enjoyed the best breakfast of our trip here. I can't wait to stay again next February! Thanks Julio for your generosity!
