“Very nice rooms”
Reviewed 5 February 2012

Our first night at the Royal Corin we came in after a long day of driving from the Flamingo area.
We were excited to get into the hot springs to relax.
We went to the swim up bar and found the waiter/bartender to be somewhat rude.
Also the temp on the hot springs were not overly hot, we tried all of them hoping to find one over 100 degrees.
I don't think any of them were over 98/99 judging from extensive hot tub experience.
However still felt good to soak.
We thought the Rooms, Beds, and bathrooms were very clean and comfortable.
You won't be disappointed with that.
We were give room 419, great views, however we were right next to the very busy road.
Cars and motorcycles in CR do not always have mufflers.
We found the room to be very noisy and had a hard time sleeping as there was traffic all night.
Then next morning we asked to be moved to a room on the far end of the hotel.
The staff was very accommodating, and moved our room.
Breakfast was very filling.

Room Tip: choose room on 4th floor, away from the road.

You can't really expect more from the accomodations. The rooms were clean and spacious with a great bathroom/shower. The property is beautiful with the hot springs and great volcanic view. Food was decent and service just ok. I would give it a better rating except the staff was no where near as friendly as the other places we visited in Costa Rica. Conversations were like pulling teeth, especially with bartenders (but it may have just been the language barrier).

I was a little nervous about driving here from San Jose, but it wasnt that bad and we were glad to have a car once we were there (actually drove from here to Manuel Antonio and back to SanJose and it wasn't bad at all ... although definitely recommend GPS). We went into LaFortuna everyday and ate at least one meal in town. Food in town was cheaper and provided alot of variety (Don Rufino's food was incredible). With a car, we were also able to save time and money by taking our own tours (Volcano, waterfall, Caves, Zip Line). You can drive to these spots and still get a guide there if you want one. Highly recommend going to the Vernado Caves if you are looking for a different kind of adventure (not for the pristine).

I'm stunned by the positive reviews. After being placed here by a travel agent, my fiance and I thought it was a safe bet after doing our TripAdvisor research. How misleading and disappointing.

We had a dreadful experience at this place, and I wish that we would have stayed at Tabacon or the Springs. Our biggest complaint was the service. While the breakfast was complimentary (don't get me wrong - that's nice), the service was sub-par. Several times I found myself scouring the dining room for coffee and/or water. Our experiences were quite similar at lunch and at dinner. We were snubbed for not ordering cocktails at dinner, and our waiter refused to give us bread at lunch (even though everyone around us had bread baskets...weird).

The on-site springs are nice, but we had a bad experience at the pool bar. The bartender was quite rude when we ordered drinks, and made us feel like we were inconveniencing him. After our first day in the springs/at the pool bar, we didn't go back. It just wasn't a very pleasant experience. We prefered to head into La Fortuna, where the locals were actually nice to us.

To top it off, the A/C in our deluxe suite was broken. It turned on and off throughout the night, to the point where we thought it was some cheapo ploy for hotel management to save some dough. Later in our travels, we ran into another couple who had a similar experience at Hotel Royal Corin. They were also stunned by the positive TripAdvisor reviews.

Bottom line: overpriced and overrated. I've experienced better service at Holiday Inn.

First off, this hotel is beautiful. We arrived and went to the springs bar and roof bar for drinks. The service and drinks were outstanding. We decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner as we arrived late and didnt want to explore la fortuna at night. Was offered water and not told of the $6 cost on the bill. Ordered mains and the server blatantly asked if we were not having appetizers first. The beef tenderloin was cooked to order but not the quality of meat I'd expect for the $25 price tag. I couldn't get a steak knife through it. The restaurant is a MUST AVOID. We expressed our complaint with the food to the waiter and he could simply ask if we wanted desert and still charged for the plate. We had to ask a different waiter for the eventual bill.
Again beautiful hotel. Garbage restaurant food and service.

Beautiful property with very comfortable rooms and perfect location. Really good for people without a car; not as much for people who really want the off-the-beaten path hotel. I was a bit concerned with the fact that the hotel is just off a main roads, but you did not even notice it from the side of the hotel we were on. You are walking distance to the Baldi Springs and EcoThermal Springs. All balconies had a view of the pool area and volcano when it was not behind the clouds. The pool and springs area is beautiful and makes you feel like you are in a remote tropical paradise. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good - not great, but will more than satisfy most people since it is included in the room rate. Spa is nice and staff very friendly. Would recommend it to for sure.

We stayed at this hotel on the penultimate night of our short trip to Costa Rica. From the moment we walked in, we knew the place will be amazing when they welcomed us with a drink. The service staff, in general, were very friendly, courteous and helped us whenever we needed anything.
The room (a master suite) was amazing, with a great view of the pool and the volcano, a fireplace, a hot tub with a built-in TV and every other amenity we could want.
Our favorite part of the hotel was the hot springs and pool with the swim up bar. The temperature was just right and it was never crowded.
The restaurant at the hotel, though, is very average and you're better off eating in town.

Room Tip: Get the master suites - they're amazing.
