“Very nice hotel!”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

My family really enjoyed the numerous iguanas that come out daily to be fed by an employee. Great service, very polite and prompt. Excellent breakfast as well. Very nice hotel for those who want a luxurious and tranquil atmosphere.

This was our second stop while visiting Costa Rica for the first time. The hotel is very nice , well kept and the staff was helpful and accommodating. Great view of the Arenal Volcano and close to other rain forest adventures. (hiking, biking, zip lining, horseback riding and quad running) Smaller property, but well appointed. Restaurant was convenient and the food delicious. Looking forward to another visit, soon.

Very nice and clean hotel with great view of the volcano.
The breakfast is included and exceeding the expectations.
The only drawback that we experienced: there is not enough towels for the pool in the evenings
and the staff promises to send some more, but it never happens.
Also some Jacuzzis do not work well.

The hot springs and the view of the volcano are great. Our room was moldy due to the constant humidity. Nice spacious bathroom with great shower. Breakfast was good. The staff was good and helpful with suggestions for restaurants. Don't miss two for one happy hour at the top floor bar!

When we reserved online for 3 nights and we asked for 2 adjoining rooms. We received several email correspondences confirming this. When we checked in and went to our room, the rooms were next door to each other, but there were no doors interior to connect. We were informed by the front desk the hotel does not have any rooms with interior doors that connect. Since we were traveling with children we told them that we would need to find another hotel. We showed them our email correspondence with their own reservation department and simply said we would be willing to pay for the first night since we would actually be staying one night, but we would expect to be refunded for the subsequent 2 since we would be checking out. The manager (who was never on site in the 16 hours we were at the hotel) wrote an email after we had checked out saying that adjoining to them meant next door to each other not connected with interior door and they would not refund our money. I understand that the language barrier can cause issues, but I think we were quite reasonable. We gave them notice immediately upon checkin that we would be leaving the next morning (so they could find another guest) and we of course paid the one night we stayed even though the rooms were not what we had been confirmed. Their response has been anything but reasonable.

Room Tip: Make sure you stay on high floor. Road and pool noise quite loud.

We are sorry very much about the situation with your reservation and the misunderstanding regarding the room type. We have checked all the information received and sent during the process of your reservation and have noticed that in no mail it is specified that we provided connecting rooms (Adjacent hotel rooms equipped with a door opening between them, in addition to the doors that open into the corridor or hallway). Due that you are travel with children we place your reservation in adjoining rooms (Hotel rooms which are next to each other but, unlike connecting rooms, have no common doors or passages) as you requested during the process of the online purchase of the rooms.

We stayed at the Royal Corin last week and found the hotel and its staff friendly and attentative. The property is well maintained, the rooms look directly at the vulcano and the variety of hot spring-fed pools is exceptional.

(+)The amenities were great. The hotel was beautiful. The shower will the multiple shower heads was neat. The linens smelled great. Breakfast was delicious and free (-) The staff was less then friendly. We felt like we were bothering them, with the exception of the restaurant and spa staff. There was no warm welcome. The hot spring "spas" were less clean then other hotels with similar pools. The music in the restaurant was awful and was on a loop so we had to hear the same music for every meal. The bar/club on the top floor had a TV on and no music. The bartenders were all bored and on their phones. We ordered one meal from the bar - a pizza with homemade mozzarella cheese, basil and tomatoes. The cheese was yellow, there was no basil and it tasted frozen. When we asked where the basil was we were told it was in the sauce, they brought out basil with no apologies. I felt the expectation of a friendly and customer service environment does not come from management. Also, when the other hotels in the area were booked, this one had lots of vacancies. No wonder.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the center or over the lobby for a better view of the volcano
