The hotel is still fairly new and not well known yet. When my friend and I arrived on a Tuesday night only about 15% of the Hotel was booked, so maybe 7 or 8 other travelers were staying there. By the time we left the hotel it was probably about half full. We stayed at the Royal Corin from Tuesday to Thursday then drove to Tamarindo and stayed at the Cala Luna for another 3 days. The hotel is owned by a Dutch husband and wife and is actually named after the wife (Corin), both were at the hotel while we were there and seemed very nice. I thought the Hotel was in an excellent location. It is directly across from the Baldi hot springs which is about half way between La Fortuna and The Volcano Area. We could see the Volcano from our room, I believe all the rooms faced the Volcano (this is not the side that the lava flow can be seen at night). The rooms were clean and had European tecnologies. The beds were sooooo comfy!! Big plus in my book! We were told that most of the hotel's contents were shipped from Asia.-- See my photos.
The hot springs were great, on a much smaller scale then what I have read about the Tabacon and the Springs hotels but I liked that. There was one large hot spring pool two smaller ones on either side of the center hot spring, two hot spring fountains and several "hot tubs". There was a steam room on the other side of the large hot spring which contained two hot tubs in front of it that were cool water. There is also a hot tub with a waterfall tucked away behind the lotto spa which seemed very private. In the ladies locker room is yet another hot tub (and sauna).
The only downfall about the Hotel is that it is located close to the road. It is barely noticable because the springs are constantly running so you only hear the fountains for the most part. From time to time a tractor trailer will go by which was quite audible, especially in the morning but luckily they did not pass too often and we slept with our balcony door open so if you close your balcony door, I am sure you won't be able to hear it.
The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly but some were a little rough on the english which is to be expected when you are visiting a foreign country, I spoke a little Spanish so we got by. There is a bar upstairs called the Lava Bar which is open 24 hours, you can find Robert, the bartender there. He speaks fluent English and actually served in the US Army for 3 years before coming back to Costa Rica. He gave us great tips on what to see and where to go to eat in town. There were 3 bars- the lava bar, a swim up pool bar and the lobby bar. You can order food and drink at all of them.
in all, my thoughts are, you better grab a room there now because once the word gets out about this Hotel, it will be packed. If you are looking for a smaller scale Tabacon or Springs without the attached price tag--- this is the place!!
