The Royal Corin Thermal Water Spa & Resort
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 10 December 2009

It's not often that I've uttered those words, but The Royal Corin truly did exceed all of our expectations--of the location, the view, the room, the grounds, the thermal pools, the staff, the food, and on and on.

The building, grounds, and room are incredible- immaculate and finely decorated in every detail- from the incredible bathroom (and shower!) to the spacious room and balcony overlooking the pools and volcano, to the luxurious bed and sheets.

The staff really made us enjoy our time there-- the bartenders friendly yet not overbearing, everyone is quick with a smile, the front desk eager and knowledgeable when setting up our activities in the area.

The free breakfast is extensive, fresh, and delicious. The location is perfect, a few km outside of downtown La Fortuna, on the road to the Arenal volcano and park. It's a quick drive into town for dinner, or to the volcano.

The place is so beautiful, the staff so great, that I would say this hotel will more than satisfy the most demanding guest- we were so blown away that I can't say enough praise for this hotel. If you're looking for a great and pampering place to stay while in the La Fortuna/Arenal area, the choice is clear :)

I cannot say enough about the hotel, staff, and food at the Royal Corin. This is a 5 star hotel in my opinion. It is clean, comfortable, inviting, romantic, and peacful. Perfect view of the Aerenal Volcano, from every room. The pool area is beautiful. The spa was a treat (and I'm not really a spa person). I would HIGHLY recoomend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the area.

The Royal Corin excels in every aspect. From the most incredible staff to the natural hot springs, to the assistance with excursions to the beautiful rooms. The Royal Corin does not lack in any area. The hotel staff is beyond wonderful. They made our stay the most incredible experience from the time we arrived till we left five nights later. We stayed in the Junior suite and it was amazing. This place is wonderful and if you are ever going to La Fotruna or the area this hotel is where everyone should stay. A wonderful experience and never wanted to leave!

We spent 4 nights in La Fortuna and this hotel made the trip even better. It looks brand new and is very upscale. The pools were amazing and naturally very hot from the Volcano...more of a hot spring. Location was great as it was about 5 minutes from the main town if you wanted to go in for a quick bite or some shopping but if you chose to you c/h stayed on the property the whole time. Master suite is big and nicely laid out and we loved the shower area. Views from the rooms are incredible. Staff very helpful and go out of their way to satisfy any request. The breakfast that was included was a great way to start the day. Would definitely stay here when vising La Fortuna. We met a lot of other nice guests in the pool area as it was a popular afternoon hangout after excursions.

The Hotel was beautiful with a fantastic down town location. The rooms were simple and tastefully decorated. the amenities are graet

My Wife and I found the service here to be flawless. Every staff member couldn't have been more friendly or more accomidating. They truly understand the concept of hospitality here!

I would urge anyone looking for a great hotel in Ventura to stay at the Clocktower Inn. You won't regret it!

Also, ask about the Spa packages. They will set everything up... it was one of the best parts of our stay. There is a little pizza place called Tony's Pizza (maybe not right but close) with some of the best pizza I've ever tasted. The food at the Hotel is great .

We just got back from our stay in Costa Rica and I felt the need to write a review of one of the greatest experiences of my life. We stayed at the Royal Corin on the first three nights of our vacation and WOW!

The Hotel was beautiful with a fantastic "front-row" view of the Volcano from our hotel room. Every room faces the volcano so don't worry too much about where your room is. The rooms were simple and tastefully decorated. LCD TV's and a radio in the shower are just a couple fo the amenities you will find in each room here.

There are three pools at the hotel, one hot, one cold and one warm. I believe they are fed from local hot springs as well. There is a great swim-up bar as well. In the pictures, the hotel looks huge, but in reality, it is a small, distinctive hotel that really makes you feel at home. The "Lava Bar" on the fith floor offers great coctails and food with a perfect view of the volcano. The prices are very reasonable here... two for one beers at the bar and entres from $12-$30. Very typical if not less to many restaurants in the States.

Last but cerainly not least, the service here was flawless. Every staff member couldn't have been more friendly or more accomidating. They truly understand the concept of hospitality here!

I would urge anyone looking for a great hotel in Arenal to stay at the Royal Corin. You won't regret it!

Also, ask about the horse back riding to the waterfall. They will set everything up... it was one of the best parts of our stay. The hanging bridges were amazing and the hike (long-trail) at the volcano was strenuous but definately worth it. If you must leave the hotel, there is a little pizza place called A'rcos (maybe not right but close) with some of the best pizza I've ever tasted. The food at the Hotel is great so there isn't much of a need to explore the local tastes.

I can't wait to go back ASAP!

My wife and I honeymooned in Costa Rica and chose to spend all 8 nights at the Hotel Royal Corin as we read many excellent reviews on TripAdvisor and received a great rate from Expedia. We could not have picked a better honeymoon location in Costa Rica!

After a two-hour cab ride from San Jose we were checked in by Herman who immediately handed us a "welcome drink" and a list of nearby outdoor activities and recommendations of his favorite activities. We had booked a Master Suite and we both agreed that it was far more luxurious than any hotel room we had seen in the US - it was gorgeous! We had an oversized balcony, an enormous bathroom, an in-room jacuzzi, and a large sectional couch. As we were exploring the room the hotel delivered an unexpected bottle of wine and a cheese plate in recognition of our honeymoon. Little did we know that this was only the start of the outstanding personal service that we would receive from the Hotel Royal Corin throughout our entire stay.

Every morning of our visit included a complementary white linen breakfast in the hotel restaurant. On the hotel's slower weekdays we were waited upon by Daniel and Cesar who would make our eggs to order and refill our coffee and juice. On busier weekends the hotel offers a buffet that includes a number of other items - but the same great service. On our last day we left at 5 AM to catch a flight from San Jose and to our surprise the hotel offered to prepare our complementary breakfast early and place it in "to go" containers.

Most mornings we would swim in the hotel's pools. The main pool is naturally heated to a very comfortable temperature. Of the two side pools one is cool and one was so hot we called it "the lobster pot." The grounds also include 3 or 4 jacuzzis and a large sauna. Most weekdays we were the only two in the pool although we befriended a number of other couples who stayed in the hotel during the week while also on their honeymoon. The drink prices were very reasonable at the swim-up-bar.

Each day we would schedule an activity through the front desk. As Joanna seemed to work many of the day shifts we relied heavily on her to make recommendations, schedule our trips and tell us what time to be ready in the lobby. All of the trips included transportation from the hotel lobby and if we weren't already in the lobby when the bus arrived Joanna would call our room to remind us. She was fantastic!

Our first afternoon we returned to the room to find that our housekeeper Rudy had folded our fresh bath towels in the shape of elephants. The next day he made monkeys and hung them from the drapes. Later in the week he made swans in a heart-shaped "pool" on the bed.

Each evening the hotel would knock on our door around 6 PM to deliver us brownies, cake or some other dessert.

We only dined at the restaurant twice as it was significantly more expensive than the restaurants in La Fortuna and the menu was far more American than we were looking for. Most days we would take the $5 cab ride into La Fortuna, eat dinner, walk around, shop, and grab another cab back. Upon request the front desk would graciously call us a cab and they would always arrive within minutes.

We took advantage of the hotel's spa where we received a couple's massage from Isabelle and Dayona. Although pricier than the massages that we could have received in La Fortuna, the spa is gorgeous and includes a private jacuzzi and saunas.

Our only complaint about the hotel was the noise of the 5th Floor Lava Bar which made if difficult to relax on the weekends in our 4th floor room. If you are staying on a weekend you may want to ask for a room on the 2nd or 3rd floors.

While some other TripAdvisor reviews for the Hotel Royal Corin criticize the hotel for its plush, modern furnishings we could not have asked for more. We were so very happy to be able to experience the adventures of Costa Rica but to also have a comfortable place to relax at the end of the day.
