Good:

Room was clean, pool and bar (and welcome drink) were nice. Some of the staff were nice, friendly, and cool and the crowd there was pretty cool when we happened to be there.

To improve:

Staff (actually the owner I think) convinced us to do the caving tour. The tour was fun BUT the hostel told us we would be in the caves for 3 hours when in fact we were only underground for about 1.5 hours. The trip ended up being ok but we both felt mislead. Might have been an honest mistake but it would be better if the staff fully understood what they were pitching.

When checking in, staff tried to charge us more than the posted rate on hostel world, even after we told them about the HW rate. They would not honor the posted rate until we threated to walk to an internet cafe and book the room online, which would actually yield them less money.

Traveling couple staying for 2 nights. Our experience was great from the beginning. The hotel was located a block from the bus station so was very easy to find. As we arrived we were greeted by the owner (a really cool American) who set us up in a nice and spacious second floor room with balcony facing the volcano. We were also offered a free drink, which was amazing. At the same time it took us about 15 minutes to book all our activities for the 2.5 days in la Fortuna. I did my research and new what the local tour companies were charging online and so was pleasantly surprised that Jessee and his staff was able to book every activity at a cheaper price (except Eco Termales). The tours they booked for us were great and we fully enjoyed them. The place looks really cool with open bar and seating area, pool, water fountain and plenty of trees. The food we ordered from the kitchen was really delicious. Roberto (the bartender) was helpful in providing local tips. The room was clean and spacious. The only negative was the shower head, which made it difficult to wash hair (good showers was a constant issue on this Costa Rican trip). Finally, the location is tremendous - right in the heart of La Fortuna. I would recommend this place to young singles, couples and even families. The atmosphere and service makes this a top notch place to stay for several nights providing great value. 4.5 stars.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms are great. Spacious with chairs on the balcony and views of the volcano.

Nice place closed to everything on town, plenty of things to do. From trips to the jungle, boating on a river or trips to many places.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great service.
Party all the time.
Clean rooms and good accommodations.
The best value for our money.
I widely recommend it.

Room Tip: If you are ligth sleeper choose a room not to close to the bar.

This hostel was excellent - you get a welcome drink upon arrival and Jesse is there to answer any questions and ensure that you feel comfortable. The staff was friendly and approachable. Everything was clean, we had hot water and a little kitchenette in our room. There were often fun activities like a bbq or games in the evenings. The music turns off at 10:00 PM every night and the bar closes, but there are a couple bars in Fortuna open later.

Stayed here for 3 nights.
My room was beside the bar and the music was incredibly loud.
One of the evenings i was watching tv in my room and couldn't even hear it over the music.
The rooms have lovely big windows but as there are no blinds, i had to keep the curtains closed all the time to have some privacy, making the room quite dark.
I asked at the reception for bus times to san Jose. All she told me was that they had a shuttle bus available for $45 which is very expensive compared to about $12 on local buses. She just tried to sell me this and gave me no information on the public transport.
This is the most expensive hostel i've stayed in in Costa Rica at $44 per night for a single room.
Although the room was fine, nothing special, and the location was good, I wouldn't stay here again.

The hostel was really nice, super clean and a great stay all together. The staff were all great and personable. You get a welcoming drink upon arrival, which is not only free but is very tasty. Jesse was a fountain of knowedge and answered all my questions, was super helpful, showing me the best of La Fortuna. Roberto is probably the best Bartender in Costa Rica.
Overal great stay, and great people there.
