“Nice resort - what more could anyone want?”
Reviewed 29 January 2014

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and had an absolute blast! The resort has awesome pools and hot springs with something for everyone. The slides are in perfect condition and we really made good use of them. The people here are very helpful and the front desk staff helps a lot in helping you to make bookings for different excursions. They have computers available in the lobby but no wifi, which is probably the only negative I found. We had our own car so had no problem getting around - I can imagine if we didn't have a car it would be difficult to wait for the shuttle each time. Breakfast in the morning is included and features a nice buffet with authentic food. The crocodile and butterfly areas were nice and there are a lot of picturesque spots that my wife and I took advantage of. We would definitely stay here again!

The views and various pools are amazing. The rooms were spacious and clean. The restaurant was a bit pricey and the food was just ok. The resort is massive and if you have a room high up the hill you definitely either need a car or to take the shuttle - which was easy enough.

Room Tip: Be prepared for a long walk up the hill/mountain but it's worth it for the amazing views!

Beautiful resort, difficult long treacherous trip to get there. A real Rain Forest in the clouds, but it does not stop you from bathing in amazing pools heated by the volcano to 90 degrees F.
Difficult to connect with the outside world
The entire family enjoyed the experience, regardless of
The rain

When we first arrived at the pool we thought our room was not super fancy but pretty good. The décor was slightly outdated, but the room was large and had everything we needed. Then we left our room and it was AMAZING. There are these great exhibits- alligators, butterflies, frogs, turtles and insects! Then there is the pool, which was unlike any pool I have ever been in! It was rather a series of pool, part of it was unheated then a large portion of it was hot water complete with slides and a wet bar. We seriously just wanted to hang out at the pool all night, it was that great! The next morning we saw we had an awesome view of the Arenal volcano. The staff was nice and there was a yummy free breakfast. If I ever return to Costa Rica (which I hope I do) I would definitely return here! We had an amazing time and it was really close to our Canyoneering adventure we had booked.

An acquaintance that we met on a river rafting excursion invited us back to his resort to experience the hot springs and it was AMAZING. If you are a hot spring or pool enthusiast, then you MUST check out this place. Must be over a dozen pools of varying sizes and temperatures plus several really run, fast and a lit scary water slides that would never be allowed in the US. Nestled right us against the flanks of Arenal Volcano, this is a very attractive, upscale resort with dining opportunities, extensive gardens, crocodiles and nicely appointed rooms. Would seriously consider staying here if ever in La Fortuna again just for the AMAZING hot spring fed pool!

We stayed at Los Lagos June 2013 for a week and enjoyed every moment. My kids absolutely loved the water slides. They are unlike anything in the US. They have two slides that dump into the cold water springs and one that dumps into the big hot springs pool that has the swim up bar. Free breakfast buffet was great...the kids and my husband ate a ton and then we headed to the pool for some relaxation or onto an excursion. The sun didn't come out too often, but that's too be expected for June. The bugs were manageable with bug spray. I'm usually a HUGE mosquito magnet and I didn't get a single bite as long as I used the spray. That's even with going to the hanging bridges, going on a safari float, and zip lining in the rainforest. There was so much to do there! Our room was up high in the hills so we used the hotel shuttle a lot to go back and usually walked down on our own in the morning. We had a view of the volcano which was awesome when the visibility allowed you to see it. We did have some issues with these huge flying insects in our room especially after a rain storm. They started coming out of the TV, but they didn't bother us. My husband and kids hiked a little closer to the volcano one night. The shuttle was typically prompt...there were a couple times we waited 15-20 minutes. We had dinner several times in the hotel's restaurant and it was quite good. Our waiter was awesome! We would stay here again in a heart beat....it's now become the standard to which my kids hold all other hotels to especially when it comes to the water slides.

My husband and I were able to spend a few hours at this hotel after a white water rafting tour. The hot springs were amazing. They're like nothing we've seen before. These are literally coming down from the volcano and are built into the hillside. And the pools have the most hilarious waterslides. We were like little kids cracking up going down them. It's much more laid back than the U.S., which takes some getting use to. You don't see lifeguards, helicopter moms, or floaties anywhere. We both said that if were came back to Costa Rica, we would definitely want to stay at this hotel. There is just so much to do and see.
