“Party Pools”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2014

The entry driveway lets you know this is going to be a beautiful place to stay. The volcano is in the clouds but still fills the view as you drive up through several turn offs for terraced rows of attractively landscaped rooms. The rooms are large, clean and nice, but pretty basic. Good beds and showers. You enter rooms from the back and have a nice front porch to enjoy the view. Lots of activities that can be booked when you check in. We did the Hanging Bridge tour through dense rain forest which we recommend highly. We enjoyed the pools heated with volcano spring water. The kids and families were having a blast but it was also Friday night so the twenty-something crowd were cranking up for party time. Everyone was friendly and enjoying the heavy beat music. I enjoyed the pool that had a bar where you were in the water at the bar. Restaurant was good and the included breakfast was great. This a good place to stay, I'd spend more than one night next time.

This is a great place to stay at the base of volcano. The resort is hundreds of acres, with plenty to do. I love the hot spring pool with is constantly 90 degrees. The slides were crazy. The rooms were nice and spacious. I would definitely recommend staying here.

This was the first place we stayed in during our Costa Rica trip, and when we left we all agreed that it would be hard to beat. First of all, much of this is laid out like a village. Rooms are spread out across many buildings, and one has a few minutes' walk to get to the main services. This is actually not a bad thing, because the resort takes its landscaping very seriously. The grounds are gorgeous! And as long as the weather is good, there is a clear view of Arenal, very close by, from nearly everywhere in the resort.

There are numerous pools of varying temperatures and sizes. One has a wet bar, although this is a popular hangout, so we use the satellite pools instead. The bar is in a cabana among the largest pools, so it is easy to get a beverage and relax nearby. The drinks are amazing! They have all the usuals, plus many unusual cocktails that we loved (and many come with the requisite umbrella).

We had some of our best times in the restaurant. We are playful people, and servers Kenneth, Selwyn, and Arturo were friendly and engaging with us, always willing to spend an extra moment to see how we were doing or to let us practice our bad Spanish. By the way, the food on the main menu is all pretty good. We were happy with everything we had on three days. The breakfast buffet was also good, larger that any of the other places we stayed in, with decent quality in everything.

Our only minor complaint is that the check-in process seems to assume that we are irresponsible children. The young woman's "welcoming" monologue was mostly a series of stern warnings about the fines we would face if we lost any of our keys. They could perhaps soften this opening lecture and make the same points, but this is minor.

We had a great time here and are very glad we booked Los Lagos.

Room Tip: We were in room 401, which I understand is perhaps the nicest room in the resort. It is actually a...

Los Logos is a nice hotel on the slops of Arenal. The hotel as many activities inside it. You can also get
To hikes and the town La Fortuna.
All the pools tat they have are very nice. All the hot tubs are hot. There is also a bridge you can jump of. There are four very fun water slides. One of the pools is volcano themed. There is also a gift shop in the hotel. The food they have at the hotel is very good. Most people rent their own little cabin. The cabins have a good bit room. The activities include zip lining and horse back riding. There is also some nice hikes. The one bad part about this hotel is that some of the staff is annoying. But some of the staff is very nice. The buffet is very nice at the restaurant but if you order food it might take some time to come.

Many of the resorts in La Fortuna are very crowded and touristy, but Los Lagos is nice and quiet. Our room had two comfortable queen beds, a nice-sized bathroom and a living area with mini fridge and 2 flat-screen TVs. Step outside your room in the morning for a fabulous view of the volcano. The pool areas were beautiful and nicely maintained. Food and drinks at the tiki bar and restaurant were great and fairly priced. Several natural hot spring pools are on the property.
We used Nature Vacations as a travel agent, and they chose and booked this resort for us. Our vacation was worry-free and wonderful because of them. Highly recommend!

Amazing location on top of the hill facing the Volcano out or window/patio. They do provide shuttle service throughout the time of visit which doesn't cost anything. However if you like to hike it's a great start to hike up the volcano trail. View from the front door was breathtaking and the back door just as good. They had many different pools so if you wanted to relax there are many hang outs along with a few slides. Yes, these slides where very fast and fun. The paths had beautiful flora, lizards, croc, caimans and butterfly garden. You will need to take a taxi to La Fortuna and the taxie each way was approx $20 but worth the trip. The restaurant had good lunches and the breakfast was included had a great selection.
Pros - Nice clean rooms, big beds, great view of volcano, (we got full view in March), shuttle service to rooms, good food, nice and fun pools/spas. Staff was very nice.
Cons - I wouldn't have any cons except I do need to mention the person attending the gift shop during my visit was so rude. The very first day I walked in she was unfriendly as we wanted to check out the shop after swimming and dried off with a towel around up and she kicked us out of the gift shop. Never went back which was too bad because I collect magnets and wanted to see if they had any. My rating below for service is for the restaurant, lobby, and pool area.
Over all ~ I would recommend Los Lagos ~

I noticed that many ratings in La Fortuna are manipulated in Trip Advisor. Many small and average hotels, many low quality restaurants, and some not very popular attractions are in top 10 or 20. So, be careful when you look into La Fortunal's reviews.

We stayed in this hotel during new year holidays. In my idea the ranking of this hotel should be better than 26. We had rented a car and had no issue traveling between the hotel and the city and nearby attractions.

Some hints, the hotel restaurant is a little pricy comparing the restaurant in the town. However, choices for good restaurants are very limited in La Fortuna. Ask for room close to main gate and reception. Many rooms require a 10-minute walk up a steep hill or a car/shuttle.

Room Tip: The hotel restaurant is a little pricy comparing the restaurant in the town. However, choices for go...
