My friend and I stayed for 5 nights here at this hotel. Our room gave us the perfect view of the volcano. Breakfast (which was included for us) was a great opportunity for us to try the local style of foods and they switched up some of the options each day. The staff was always friendly and willing to help. Overall a wonderful experience.

Dear Laurie K.

Thank you for visiting us and for placing your comment here.

Each of our bungalows has a great view and because of our location, there are so many adventures you can have: you can stay at the hotel and have a chill day in your bungalow, pool, and jacuzzi, and also go for a walk at Los Congos trail or you can go out and visit thermal waters, hanging bridges, the Arenal Volcano National Park, go look for sloths and so many others things...

Thank you and we hope to see you next time you come to La Fortuna.
Kind regards of your friends from Lomas del Volcán.

My wife and I just got back from two weeks in Costa Rica. We spent four days at Hotel Lomas Del Volcan, in the area around the Arenal volcano, the grounds of this facility are magnificent. You have your own bungalow with a nice enclosed seating area, and a nice privacy space between bungalows. The on-site restaurant/bar is well appointed, and the staff are excellent. We had a wonderful time at this hotel, and would not hesitate to go back.

Dear Ken B.

Thank you so much for this comment. We appreciate knowing your experience and we are glad you enjoyed your time in our Hotel.

Our gardeners work really hard to keep the grounds beautiful and well maintained, they love nature, and I think we all love nature, so we work in a Hotel where it is a priority, as much as the rest of the experience of our guests: with the bungalows (design, cleanliness, maintenance), the restaurant and bar, the service... the whole experience.

We really hope to see you soon.
Kind regards of your friends from Lomas del Volcán.

I enjoyed a two-night stay here in early January 2019 with my wife and adult children, 20 and 22. We rented two cabins, one deluxe and one standard. Each room was well equipped and private.

My wife and I stayed in the deluxe cabin that offered an unobstructed view of the 'volcano,' although sadly the clouds blocked the view of about 20% of the top of Arenal Volcano. Nonetheless, the privacy and intimacy of our cabin (#514), was very good --- our deck with a jacuzzi allowed us to relax in the early mornings and evenings where we saw a lot of birds and wildlife.

Our two college aged children stayed in cabin #515, which had two comfortable beds, a private deck (not as good a view) and a large bath room.

A hearty buffet breakfast is included. Unfortunately, each time we ate a meal at the hotel's restaurant, we were not able to see the volcano! The dinner was good, but it was over-priced. The restaurant lacks ambiance when the volcano is not in view, since it is designed to view Arenal Volcano.

Room tip: Ask for deluxe cabin #521 for best view/privacy, or #514 for 2nd best view.

Dear MontrealMan49.

We thank you an your family for visiting us and thank you for placing you experience here.

Thank you for your comments about the restaurant, it is our new facility and is nice to read opinions, so we can consider options to improve. Although, is important to say that we have a peaceful restaurant with music according to the time of the day and also remember that our prices are average with other restaurants with the same category in La Fortuna.

We are glad that you and your wife could enjoy the romantic bungalow deluxe and that your children could have a space to rest with privacy.

Hope to see you next time you come to La Fortuna.
Kind regards of your friends from Lomas del Volcán.

Our travel agent booked the hotel for us because the Observatory Lodge was full. They swore it was equivalent. Well... Lomas is very confortable and has everything à tourist needs: very professional staff that will say hello every time - and will forget that they saw you ten minutes ago, too many guests- very clean and confortable rooms, outdoor pool and jacuzzi, buffet breakfast, you name it. This is exactly where the charm stops. They are trying to hard to please the North American tastes and forget to keep genuine and authentic. The new impressive restaurant served the most terrible food and wine tasted in the country and imposed an ugly green cube in the middle of the lobby garden. The Hotel is still under construction but the size of it makes it fear the worse for the future.

Dear M B.

We appreciate your comment.
First, we are sorry you couldn´t visit the Hotel you wanted to visit, but we appreciate you visited Lomas instead.

At this moment we are working on offer our guests better facilities, we just built a new restaurant (because the old one was not in good shape) and we named it Hojarasca and now we are remodeling the reception and bar area. With the new restaurant we created an authentic menu and we added costarican garnishes to all of our meals, in order to enjoy the taste of our country, also we added some new and better wines. Our breakfast has so many options, you can choose a typical breakfast (Gallo pinto, eggs, etc.) and you also can eat bread, tropical fruits, cheese, ham, cereal, pancakes, yogurt, fruit juice, coffee, and teas. We think in breakfast as the most important meal of the day, so we offer a variety of food.

About the green wall in the garden, is just part of the restaurant and we are waiting for our team to put some plants in it, it´s going to look beautiful! Also, is important to say that the wall does not affect the view of nature and the volcano, it just gives some privacy to the restaurant.

As ticos, and more important, as sancarleños, we are used to say "hello" every time we see others. Doesn´t matters if we already saw you ten minutes ago.

We hope you to return home safely.
Kind regards of your friend of Lomas del Volcán.

The hotel is a set of private bungalows, each with it's own front and back porch. It offered a lot of privacy and a feeling of luxury for a good price. The shuttle, which you can call basically all day, will take you into town for $6 and pick you up (with a phone call from you or a restaurant) for $6 more. It could be a tough walk out of town and up the hill to the hotel, so the shuttle was a nice option. They also have a set of various adventures you can book through them, definitely worth doing, but there are a lot of additional tours through other agencies you can book that will pick you up at the hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We asked for recommendations on a dessert place our first night and she knew which ones would still be open and we had the shuttle take us directly to one, walked around town for a couple of hours, and called for a pickup. We had an awesome stay and I would definitely recommend this place to stay.

Dear RachelTStar

Thank you so much for visit us and for placing this comment on TripAdvisor.

We really like our location because makes Lomas del Volcán a private and quite place to rest, enjoy nature and have some adventure. For long time we didn’t offer the taxi service but we realice how important is to offer services that help our guests to have a easier way to move in or out the Hotel if you don’t want or can’t walk.

And yes, as you said, you can go to Los Congo’s trail, pool and jacuzzi if you want to enjoy some adventure without going out, but also you can booked some tours around La Fortuna.

We hope to see you soon!
Kind regards of your friends from Lomas del Volcán.
