We had a rental car, so this location was great for us as we could easily drive to excursions around La Fortuna and Arenal. Driving around La Fortuna and Arenal is easy, as long as you have wifi and your phone (Waz) as GPS. The hotel room was clean but the walls were thin and I could hear the neighbors talking, their tv/movie, and even when they turned on their bathroom faucet. The cleaning crew would create fun creatures out of the towels, which my boys (8 and 11 yr) would look forward to seeing everyday. Little ants would come into the bathroom/main room, especially if you'd eat snacks. I asked for a room (321) near the pool/hot springs, which I'm so glad I did. It was very convenient to go swimming, plus breakfast is next to the pool. They have individual shower rooms next to the pool, which were better than the ones in our room (high pressure shower head). I took my showers there after swimming.
The hotel grounds are beautiful with flowers, birds, leaf cutter ants, and cow field near the more expensive suits with own hot tub/hot spring. The pools fed by hot springs were wonderful to relax in, as well as the cold water pool for swimming. We didn't goto other hot springs since we felt the ones at the hotel were sufficient.
Free breakfast was very good, consisting of buffet of rice/beans, plantains, scrambled eggs, meat (EG: sausage, chicken/tomato sauce), bread, toaster, cereal, pound cake, local breads/cookies, fresh fruit (pineapple, banana, watermelon, papaya), fruit juice, orange juice, milk, waffle/omelets custom order made by staff.
The front desk had a pool table, coffee, and fruit juice. They would also organize excursions via Desafio for you (pickup at hotel). We did the class II-III white water rafting and river safari (float) via Desafio. Free wifi, but we had our own wifi via car rental company.
