Hostel Backpackers La Fortuna

The staff were really friendly and helpful. I stayed in a private room which had air conditioning and a TV, it was clean and very comfortable. The hostel has a lovely communal garden and is in a great location, only minutes walk from the bus terminal. It was quiet and very chilled out. They offered free daily activities which was a real bonus.

Little bit of heaven after staying in dorm rooms for so long!
Pros: my bf and I "splashed out" and got a private room for a couple of nights- Big bed, tv, air con, our own bathroom... heaven. The hostel had free shuttles each day somewhere new which was a fantastic inclusion- we went to the waterfall and the hot springs (i recommend doing both). Nice clean place, kitchen, welcome drinks, good wifi, hammocks, cheap rooms.
Cons: breakfast is an extra $5, no real hang out communal area, no hostel vibe.
Loved the free shuttles and my room, worth a visit.

Room Tip: If there are 2 or more of you I recommend paying a bit extra and going for a private room. Was so ni...

We booked this hostel thinking that this was the LP tip, but it is not,... the place we wanted to stay at was "La Fortuna Backpackers". when we showed up there, the nice staff told us where this hostel was were we had done our booking.

this hostel was nice enough: we stayed four nights in a six person dorm. luckily only during one night there was one other person in the dorm. otherwise there really would not have been enough room. so the rooms are really small.

it was clean. the kitchen was good.

what i did not like about this place was the manager of this hostel (jesse from their partnerhostel where the pool is, is great and helpful), but here i felt like they tried to cheat us. on the day of our arrival they said a transport to tortugero was 57 dollars. after two nights and one BBQ at the other hostel where the manager of this hostel saw us, the rate went down to 55 dollars, when we asked him again. i am sure he had not remembered us asking two days ago,... also the tours they dried to sell us were a bit overpriced.
one of our friends went to the free hot springs tour and everything was stolen,... they told them to leave their valuables next to the spring. we did it with a different company where we could leave everything on the bus and the guide looked after it.

Room Tip: Try to be at the back where the cozy and queiet area is an not in the corridor where everybody has t...

I had a pleasant stay at Hostel Backpackers La Fortuna. The staff were very friendly on arrival and I was given a free welcome cocktail which was delicious (mango, orange and Costa Rican rum). This was a nice surprise after a tiring journey! The dorm rooms were spacious and clean and it's a very relaxed atmosphere with hammocks outside and a small bar. One can use their sister hotel's swimming pool too which I didn't take advantage of. No complaints although not for those who want a party hostel!

This is a nice little place to stay. Clean, close to everyting. Rooms and bed were nice. Cool little bar, and $5 all you can eat breakfast. And you can also use the pool at their sister property down the block.

We stayed for 3 nights and found this to be a really good hostel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The beds in the dorms were very comfortable and the dorm itself was cleaned every day. The kitchen was also well maintained. When staying here you can use the pool at its sister hostel, which is a nice touch. One piece of advice is that we got our Baldi Hot Springs tickets with them but you can get them for $6 cheaper at the tourist information just down the road. Would stay here again!

This hostel is a great stay! Hot water, wifi in the rooms, and fresh linens/towels make for a comfortable visit. We stayed three nights in a private room. Staff is helpful - Alonso was extremely friendly and gave us recommendations for restaurants and things to do. The hostel itself has a chill vibe, with hammocks and tiki huts all around, a cute mini bar, and young visitors. You also have access to the sister property, Arenal Backpackers Resort, until 10pm every day - which is an even more social spot. It is walking distance from all the restaurants and small bars. Overall, a really nice place :)
