“Lovely grounds, good food”
Reviewed 12 March 2012

The accommodation is spread about the grounds which are well laid out with a lot of very attractive flowering plants. The rooms are well equipped, we had a fridge and coffee maker, as well as a safe and the usual things. Food and service in the restaurant was good, they do a good range of pizzas which are huge! We enjoyed the choice at breakfast. There were two not such good things - wifi was not working at all for the first day we were there and when it came back it's only available in reception and is not brilliant speed; secondly our room was the furthest from reception and there was no access by car so it was a bit of a trek with the luggage. Having said that we enjoyed staying there, lots of birds in the garden and a good view of Arenal Volcano when the cloud lifted.

Room Tip: If you have a lot of luggage ask for a room closer to reception

We had a lovely 3-day / 2-night stay here. The staff is courteous and helpful; rooms are comfortable; restaurant has good food and nice service. Our visit was quiet and peaceful and a relaxing way to end a 14-day adventure-filled trip.

This hotel is beautiful, clean, and roomy with gorgeous view. It's located near Baldi hot springs and National Park. Awesome breakfast and a must have pizza for dinner! Loved it, recommend it and will comeback!!!

We have spent 2 nights in a deluxe room at the Volcano Inn. It´s a relatively new hotel with a stunning view. It´s good value for your money!

This resort is nice looking and well landscaped but the rooms are noisy, especially at night. Trucks often roar by as they climb the steep grade in front of the resort. We lost power several times one night, making it difficult to sleep. There was no light and the air conditioning quit. In addition, when the power came on, the TV would turn on, despite being previously turned off. Safes in the room had no keys and were mounted to flimsy cabinets. The shower had a major leak in the wall. That said, the breakfast was great.

Avimanager, Owner at Arenal Volcano Inn, responded to this review, 17 April 2013
Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write your review about our hotel. we feel deeply sorry that your experience with us was not as expected. As owner of this hotel my main goal is to have happy and returning customers and all aspects of your comment are taken in consideration for improvements.

Referring to the noise of trucks at night, we do get some noise on rare occasions when the main roads to the northern border are closed, but thank fully this is very rare.
Power: The loosing of power at night is also not common, I do sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.
Safe: All safes in our hotel are attached to the brick cement wall, in our deluxe rooms they are placed on a wooden closet and from the closet the safe is attached also to the brick wall.

I am regretful that your stay was not totally positive, and I wished we had the opportunity to make the experience more worthwhile in the future. So if you plan to come to the Arenal Area in the future please let me know. We all at Arenal Volcano Inn will be happy to have you back.

Thank you very much for your honest opinion.

I was travelling in Arenal on my own and wanted to make the most of the area whilst on a break away from the surf..
the ladies at reception are great... like a tight team of concierges, they took care of organising all my activities promptly with good advice (white-water rafting, canopy tour, quad biking, night-time frog watch, hot springs at Tabacon) and always asked how I got on with each day. Laundry was done well, the room/cottage was a great size, meals in the resto were good and the service was very friendly and competent. Its a good location to see the volcano (if the clouds clear!)
I really recommend this place for the warm attentive staff.

Nicely situated about 4 miles out of LaFortuna, the Arenal Volcano Inn (AVI) is in close proximity to most of the local attractions. The grounds are nicely landscaped, and the room was clean and well appointed with a frig, wifi and tv. Our bathroom was huge! However, there was a noticable shortage of counter space in the bathroom for personal items and there was a minor issue with water drainage from the shower onto the floor.

Food at the hotel was average. Overall, we would rate AVI as average and well worth considering when in the Arenal Volcano area. It has a nice view of the volcano on a clear day.
