This hotel was fantastic. I cannot say enough wonderful things.....from the moment you enter and are greeted with a smile and warm towels....the front desk were helpful and kind. The room was great, the shower is heavenly. My six year old son had thevtime of his life. The bartenders, Miguel was kind, nthe golf cart guys Jason especially was so friendly. We never had any issues with anything. Food was good, the pools were awesome. Most if all, special thanks to Edward who arranged really fun tours. This hotel is awesome. Five minute cab ride from town, find another couple to split the cost and it's super cheap. We saw hummingbirds, monkeys, armadillos, grasshoppers, iguanas and more! We loved it here and will return!

Room Tip: Ask for one near the pool if you prefer to be closest.

This was our third stop on our Costa Rica trip last month. I think it was my favorite because of the beautiful flowers and the wonderful hot springs pool. When we first got there we just walked around taking pictures and admiring the beauty of the grounds! The second day we tried out the hot springs pool. The water was very warm and the clearest water I have every seen. We had our supper at the bar in the pool. I love being in water so eating in the hot springs pool with the view of the volcano was magnificent. Also, we were able to see lots of unique birds from our front door. There are a lot of hotels in the area that we saw but I am so thankful to Rayna with Costa Rica outdoors for suggesting this resort for us!

Room Tip: All of the rooms have an equal view of the volcano!

Arrived at the Airport near San Jose at 11:00 am( two hour time difference from EST).
Rented a car, which was very easy and affordable. Drove to Arenal, which was a three hour drive. Not a bad drive at all. On our arrival, the welcome was very nice and courteous. Had already paid for the stay, but a nicer room on the second floor was available and they kindly let us have it at no additional cost. View of the active volcano is amazing.
The grounds were immaculate ,the landscaping was kept trimmed and in perfect shape the property spotless.Lots of varieties of Fauna and Flora. Had a pair of Collared Aracari Toucans outside our room one day and were awakened every morning by Howler monkeys., Breakfast was included with the stay and always excellent, lots of choices, always fresh fruit too.
Spent five days, then left for Manuel Antonio. Six hour drive, not bad .On the way, stopped to see a five hundred year old Ceiba tree, 175 feet tall, in perfect condition, took our breath away!
Plenty of things to do here, would return!

Room Tip: Ask for second floor room,it is located in the back of the property, but the view is worth it.

We spent 2 nights here while touring the area. It is a large hotel with beautifully cared-for grounds & cottages. The restaurant staff could be a little testy about where to sit, but perseverance paid off & we had delicious meals. We were a group of eight friends. The cottages were spacious, well-appointed and perfectly clean. It was lovely to relax in the hot thermal pools after a day hiking in the park nearby. The grounds had especially beautiful flowers & trees and many birds among them. The grounds are very extensive with distances between rooms and reception, pools & restaurant. This was not a problem as they have quiet electric carts that will pick you and/or your luggage up at a moment's notice.

Pro's:
- Beautiful landscaping
- Eco friendly resort
- Very nice hot springs, swim up bar
- Very good breakfast buffet
- Volcano view from every room
- Waking up to a Volcano view is amazing

Con's:
- Drive to Arenal is long, to any resort however
- Golf cart necessary to get to most rooms
- Very little nighttime activity within walking distance

Arenal Springs Resort was a fantastic experience for us. Our room was near the back, on the 2nd floor and the view was amazing. Service was outstanding, the restaurant was above average for dinner and the breakfast buffet was the best we had in Costa Rica.

Room Tip: Ask for a 2nd floor room if you don't mind the stairs. The view of the volcano will be better!

My husband and I were in Arenal Springs Resort for 3 nights las April, our second and last destination after Manuel Antonio area. Since it is our first time in Costa Rica, I can not compare with other hotels in the area. Let's say the view around the Arenal Volcano and Arenal Lake is breathtaking wherever you are... We were lucky to have a non cloudy sky the whole time!

I am sure that there is better hotels than Arenal Springs, but it is a good price-quality choice. Rooms where clean, well decorated and the view on the volcano is astonishing. The gardens are beautiful, flowers and hummingbirds everywhere. I don't understand why they have so many paved roads, in contrast with the rustic surroundings...

The pool and thermal baths are beautiful, you can relax there the whole day. But the time we were there (3 nights), the main pool was closed -and empty- the first 2 days. On the second day, the main thermal pool was open but the water was all green, not too inviting to swim in... It was quite strange since it was during a high season time and the hotel was full (no vacancy)...

The staff was just OK; not friendly, but not unfriendly- they just do their job. One barman seemed lightly drunk and had a hard time to serve us. The guy at the tour desk information and reservation could hardly give us detailed information about the expeditions available and forgot to give us our receipt for the activities we reserved (but no problem occured, the tour companies were very kind with us). During mealtime, the staff did his job, but not more.

The food was OK, but breakfast buffet offered pretty small choices if I compare to other hotels I went before. The lunch service also had not so much choices, and dinner meals were not amazing.

Because we spent more time outside the hotel in expeditions and tours, we did not bother too much about the lack of service quality. At the end, the room and the view of the Volcano was unforgettable! If you are looking for a good price-quality hotel, you can book Arenal Springs. Personnally, I would try another hotel around next time I come back in CR.

I traveled to Costa Rica with a group of friends last October and our stay at this resort was amazing! The view of the volcano from the hot springs was spectacular... and did I mention there's a bar in the pool? There's numerous springs on the hotel grounds and each of them have different temperatures and a few of them have water slides. I can imagine this hotel to please everyone, including families with small children. Our rooms were spacious, immaculately clean, and our balconies had hammocks. This resort is not for those who want to "rough it" in costa rica, but instead want to relax and be pampered. The food at the hotel's restaurant was very good as well. Don't' miss the breakfast buffet.
