What a perfect way to start our Costa Rican Vacation. We spent 3 wonderful nights here & From the first moment at check in we were impressed. Vanessa & Aileen at the front desk welcomed us and saw to it we enjoyed our stay and experienced the Arenal area to the fullest. They recommended the Hanging Bridges, Butterfly conservatory and last but not least Sky Trek- Our first time Zip lining -separate review- all a must do in Arenal). Jr (bartender / WiFi helper was great, friendly and warm) Johnny (breakfast waiter very good and friendly) & Jasmina (massage therapist- I like deeper work and she was great! )Loved the complementary facial too!

We didn't meet the Housekeepers But they took great care of us.

Our room (#18) was perfect, spacious, and in the back portion of the property. The bed very comfortable, fridge & coffee maker a must for us. Bathroom clean and perfect. wonderful surprise view of Arenal Volcano's peak from our window as awoke on our first morning. Nice little table and chairs on the front porch.

We Spent early mornings having our coffee in the hot springs, walking the property listening to birds sing. The evenings we soaked watched fireflys & having a specialty drink of Jr's.

Highly recommend Hotel El Silencio ~ Thank you all so much!!

Room Tip: Back of the property to avoid the road noise

We stayed for 4 nights over new year. Lovely room, the hot spring and bar is nice and not tacky (but lovely and hot). Breakfasts are fine. Don't eat dinner in the restaurant though - it's overpriced and poor! (if you can't face the 5 min cab ride into la fortuna, the steak house next door is lovely - as well as being cheaper and far better than the restaurant!).

We stayed here 4 nights and everything was perfect!

We ate most of our meals at the restaurant and thought the food was excellent. Fresh fruit with breakfast every morning( breakfast was included), full lunch menu and a different dinner menu every night. The prices are very reasonable for both food and drinks. The landscaping is beautiful. It's weird that there is a mega hotel next door, but after a day you don't even know it's there. The staff was very friendly and helpful especially Larson and Eddie in the restaurant. It's an easy cab ride into town- $7 one way. We preferred to stay at the hotel if we weren't on a day trip as they had everything there- good food, drinks and the hot spring pool.

The cabins are very clean. Air conditioning works well. We had two queen beds which were comfortable.

I am glad we stayed here at a smaller, more personal hotel rather then one of the bigger mega resorts. I would definitely return and recommend to others.

We stayed in the hotel few months ago and are ready to go back again. The place is beautiful, the staff is great. We didn't have a chance to eat in the restaurant - there so much to see around the volcano (we rented a car). The only food we had there was breakfast, which was included in the price. With four choices to pick, there was enough food for the whole family. Two adults plus two kids eating for "free" - that saved us a lot of money. We went to Manuel Antonio after and the breakfast was not included. Huge difference. The pool was nice, hot springs really hot - especially early afternoon. The view from the cabin is spectacular, at least from that side of the volcano. The only issue is the proximity of the next door hotel that is peeking into the pool.
But if you have fun or you are busy enjoying life, you'll forget about it easily. The whole place is peaceful and quiet. Sometimes we wondered if we were the only ones there.
Overall - great place and value for the price.

Room Tip: Lower cabin numbers are closer to the restaurant and service desk.

El Silencio del Campo is not as fancy as some of its high-end competitors, but has a wonderfully, laid-back atmosphere and small-hotel feel. The individual cottages are roomy and impeccably clean, staff are always good-humoured and helpful, and the straight-ahead view of the volcano is spectacular. The food is fine and represents good value for money. The hotel's own hot spring provides a great way to relax at the end of a day of zip-lining, canyoning or whatever other crazy activity one has been doing. The only significant drawback is not-at-all the fault of the hotel, but somehow a monstrosity was allowed to be built next door, but one trains oneself to avoid looking to the left. The internet access was spotty but this was likely due to the inclement weather. Overall, El Silencio provides a great choice if you are looking for a friendly, quieter hotel.
