I recently was married in La Fortuna and this hotel not only hosted 30 of our wedding guests, but also hosted our reception in their new, beautiful reception hall overlooking Arenal Lake & volcano. The staff was incredibly accommodating, always as helpful as could be whether we were dining with our friend Roy in their restaurant or enjoying Andres' tasty drinks at the bar or needing John to drive us all over the place for us. The rooms are beautiful, the views are unbelievable and I can't speak more highly of their staff. We will be back! And we are very grateful to everyone there for making our wedding weekend so perfect!

After staying in several other areas in Costa Rica, in more spartan establishments, it was pure bliss to arrive at Mountain Paradise! The view was awesome, the grounds were beautiful, and the staff all incredibly friendly and helpful. The heated pools and waterfalls and the swim-up bar made it unnecessary for us to spend money going to one of the nearby (pricey) hot springs. The room was gloriously air conditioned (unlike hotels in some other parts of the country), nice and roomy, with our own hot tub on the patio and with a huge luxurious bathroom and 2 luxurious showers. Outside, a constant stream of exotic birds were clearly visible from close range (ranging from hummingbirds on the flowers, to colorful toucans in the trees). We took a couple of tours, with a tour-guide the hotel provided named Ramon. He was excellent! He spoke excellent English, showed us all sorts of things we might have missed, and made it all so interesting and fun for our 10-year-old daughter that she was begging to take more tours with Ramon! Coming back from a tour one night, we were craving pizza. Ramon and the hotel van driver stopped at a restaurant to let us order the pizza...then took us back to the hotel to hit the pool...while the driver went back later and picked up the pizza and brought it to our room. We didn't ask for any of that...they just graciously offered, and did not charge any additional delivery fee. I'd go back to the Mountain Paradise in a heartbeat...and next time, I'd stay longer and enjoy it more.

This resort is paradise! The rooms are like nothing you have probably ever stayed in. Hummingbirds flock around this place like Robins in Pennsylvania in the springtime, mostly due to the beautiful flora. Unbelievable! The pool is heated (not so sure from the volcano as the pool bar staff would have you believe) but it was devine! Each room has a outside jacuzzi along with a waterfall rock wall shower. A king size bed with a full.queen also in the room. Perhaps a little challenging to find. Drive out of LaFatuna, pass the Volcano Inn and start looking for dirt road off to the right. There will be a small sign, continue down that road and follow signs. The downside is probably the food. Not so good and you are a captive audience. I and an ultra bug-a-phobe! Not your typical Costa Rician visitor, but I did it for my two college grad daughters as they wanted to go there to celebrate. Our room was bug free!!! Loved it! Went zip lining with Arenal toures- Loved it! Went to swinging bridges tour- long, saw nothing but bugs ( and I already mentioned my feelings on that!) and a snake hanging in a tree watching us. UGH! Did see two waterfalls and the pictures are awesome! Not for the faint of heart, which I think I am! Just an awesome resort!

My husband and I stayed at Mountain Paradise for 3 nights in May 2011. The grounds are beautiful with a wonderful view of the volcano when it isn't covered with clouds. The staff was great - very helpful and friendly. We arrived late after driving in from San Jose airport and were greeted with cold towels and juice and taken in a golf cart to our room. The rooms were very spacious with 2 king beds, a nice little patio w/ a Jacuzzi tub (which we didn't end up using because the pool was so warm and nice). The waterfall showers look a little cheesy in the pictures but are actually pretty cool! We ate in the hotel for dinner the first night and it was ok, but a little expensive compared to the other options in town. Breakfast was included in the rate and was very good each morning. We had a perfect view of the volcano from our room the first morning when we arrived and it was perfectly clear which is rare for rainy season. The hotel staff (Jon) gave great advise on activities and booked a zip line and hot springs for us. I would highly recommend Mountain Paradise as a great place to stay in La Fortuna & a great value as well!

Honestly I have only amazing things to say about this hotel. My boyfriend and I drove from San Jose to Mountain Paradise and upon arrival we were greeted with cold towels and some of the best fresh juice I've ever drank. We were then driven up on a golf cart to the "bungalow" where our Premium room was by Kaylor (who provided us with TONS of help the rest of our trip - a new level of hospitality!). The room itself was perfect -FREE WIFI, beautiful bathroom with two showers (one of them a waterfall), a soaking tub outside on our private deck, huge bed with mosquito net - just stunning. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL, and the pool is sooo warm but refresing (and also open 24 hours!!). The swim up bar was a huge hit for us (Andres is THE BEST bartender - makes drinks the old fashioned way!). And you can see the volcano from every point of the hotel grounds. I wouldn't tell my friends and family to stay anywhere else in Arenal, because the experience I had at Mountain Paradise was simply outstanding.

Fabulous hotel and service. It truly is a piece of paradise with a spectacular view of the volcano when the clouds aren't covering it. The staff treat you as if you are the only guest, going out of their way to ensure every aspect of your stay is perfect. Clean, beautiful, comfortable bed, delicious food, great pool, breathtaking grounds - it truly has it all. After staying for 2 nights, we left for our next hotel. When we found the other hotel to be less than satisfactory, we turned around and drove back 3 hours to spend 2 more nights here. That should say something! The staff welcomed us back warmly, especially Ivan, the manager, and even the hotel owners. We could have spent our whole trip here and will definitely return!

This hotel has gorgeous grounds, great views and the rooms are pretty nice also. It is located close to La Fortuna, the hot springs, the hanging bridges and the waterfall. It is up an unpaved road but you get used to that quite quickly in Costa Rica.

The rooms are scattered around the landscaped grounds in small buildings. The rooms are clean, comfortable and the bathrooms are quite unique. We had a waterfall in ours as well as a very nice shower. TV in the room was a smallish flat screen mounted high above the patio doors. The patio has a private hot tub. We didn't actually use ours. We went to Eco Termales instead (recommended also).

The pool is rather small but quite nice and has great views. Water was rather hot. There was a small hot tub size area with cool water that was actually the most pleasant.

Food at the restaurant was good but not spectacular. Breakfast was included and was quite adequate.

Overall I recommend this hotel.
