It has been year since my husband and I stayed at this hotel and I meant to write this review upon our return home but never got around to it. All the good things everyone has written about this hotel are absolutely TRUE..great staff, service, wonderful buffet breakfast, etc etc.
My story is a different one but one that needs to be told because it says TONS of the character of the staff.
On our last night at this hotel, my husband and I decided to get massages. (Forgive me for not remembering the girls name that gave us the massage). Even though we had checked out of the hotel that morning, they allowed us to come back in the afternoon for the massage and it was a wonderful experience given to us in the privacy of one of the suites. The massage was so relaxing that my husband FORGOT a gold chain (which contained his grandmothers ring and a charm that we bought in Egypt) in addition to his wedding ring! Idiotic, yes, we know. He didn't realize this until we were in San Jose and we called the hotel and they told us that they had these items in safekeeping. Well, to make a VERY long story short..we were flying out to New York and had no way of receiving this jewelry. They INSISTED that she show ID ( I had told them she was coming) and because she didn't have ID on her at the moment, they would not release the jewelry. She went back to her hotel, called me in NY, told me what happened and I in turn called the hotel to tell them it was ok to give her the jewelry. The hotel then decided to send the jewelry to my friends hotel in La Fortuna so that she would not have to return for it.
I'm sorry for the long story but its just an example of the character and honesty that the entire staff of this hotel possesses. Somebody could have easily stolen these pieces of valuable jewelry and yet, they did their best to accommodate us so that it would be safely returned to us. Thank you again to all the staff..this experience alone would make us return to this hotel any day!
PS: the jewelry remained in Colombia for another 2 months and when my friend from Colombia went to Atlanta to visit her family, she fedexed it to me to NY!!!More
