Room G3 had a mold/ mildew stench. We had to turn on the A/C to get rid of it. However, the service was excellent both at their restaurant and the bar. Bar also served very good dinners. The breakfast was excellent. The staff at all levels were courteous and polite.The hotel compound was very lush and beautifully kept - park like setting.

Dear Guest;
Thanks for your comment, we are really happy to know that we reach your expectations. In the rainforest is difficult take the humidity out of the rooms so that is why AC unit helps to take this problem out of the room.

Beautiful location, large shower, lovely pool. The balcony view looks out on the lush gardens and the volcano. There is a short trail through the rain forest right on the grounds that was nice to walk in the mornings before breakfast. You are close to La Fortuna Waterfall and Cerro Chato and within walking distance of the Rainforest Chocolate Tour. A delicious breakfast is included with your stay. The only drawback is the distance from town. If you don't have a car, taxis can be expensive - particularly the ones contacted through the front desk.

Dear Guest;
Thanks for your comments, the nature around the property is one of our most popular attractions; about the taxi prices we have been working with one cab driver for years (Sometimes he is not available so others come), we took pretty serious when our clients let us know this kind of comments, so if you can remember a name or style of the taxi that charge you more please get in contact with me (operaciones@casalunahotel.com).

My wife and I had a great time in La Fortuna and a great stay at the Casa Luna Hotel and Spa. It was located just outside of the main town, but it was easy to get to by cab for $5-10. The staff were all very courteous and professional. The rooms were great, with a balcony, AC unit, and TV (though the TV was a bit out of date). We went to the spa on our last day and did the honeymoon package, which included a body wrap, facial, and massage, all with a view of the forest with the soothing sound of falling rain (it rained a lot, it's the rainforest). I loved the spa. The only weak point was maybe the restaurant. It served a very solid breakfast each morning buffet style with an entree, a couple of sides (the fried plantains were my favorite), and a station making omelets or any other style egg. For lunch or dinner, though, there were limited options and they were a little pricey. It didn't matter too much for us, though, because we went into town most nights for our meals. There are much bigger hotel resorts in the area, with many pools and multiple in-house restaurants, if that's what you are into, but for us, the Casa Luna Hotel and Spa was a great, small, intimate, and incredibly option. And once again, the spa was an awesome experience.

The whole property was beautiful, and has a tropical feel to it. The view outside our room was of the arenal volcano, which was amazing to see every time I looked outside. The rooms were kept clean, however, our room was left unlocked by housekeeping while we were out. Other than that the stay was great. They had a really nice pool with a waterfall, delicious food at their restaurant, and the staff that was very polite and friendly.

My boyfriend and I went to Casa Luna for 3 nights and it was a great experience! The staff was very helpful and the food was fresh every morning. It had beautiful scenery and many options for daily adventures. I will definitely be staying here again when I come back to Costa Rica.

Room Tip: We stayed in B4 which overlooked the volcano.

Everything was amazing but the rooms. Room had multiple leaks, tv remote didn't work, shower ran out of hot water pretty fast, safe froze up requiring service to open, power went out to room. My friends room also had their own random issues. Only other draw back is no hot spring or even hot tub to go with the beautiful pool.
The service of the staff was so great it does help to over come the quality of room. Whether or not I would recommend Casa Luna to a friend would probably depend on the price of the room they are paying.
You should definitely praise your staff (especially the females at the front desk) as their service and attitude is what truly makes Casa Luna so nice.

My husband and I stayed at Casa Luna for 2 nights in mid-June and were very impressed. The front desk staff were very knowledgeable and helpful, the gardens were absolutely gorgeous, the pool very nice, the room exceptionally clean and comfortable. If the weather was cooperative, you could see the volcano very easily from the balcony of our second floor unit.
We loved that we could just walk to the Rainforest Chocolate Tour (definitely check that out), as it was just 400 meters down the road. Taxi to town was around $5.
They were running a special for the month of June of buy 1/get 1 free spa treatment - but we didn't have the time to take advantage of it. Bummer.
We did not eat at the restaurant, except for breakfast, which was good. Oh, and we got a couple of drinks and snack during happy hour.
Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We liked having a second floor room with a balcony so we could view the volcano better. Bottom floo...
