Nayara is not only the best place we've been in Costa Rica, but also the best place we've ever been everywhere.

From the incredible kindly staff, to the astonishing place, views and rooms, passing by the most gorgeous breakfast buffet you'll ever have, everything here is made to perfection.
The pools, the Jacuzzis and walking around the hotel paths will be forever remembered, and we will definitely came back here.

Really, this place makes every other five-star-review I've published on Trip Advisor worthless.
Following the same scale, the Nayara should have 8 stars.

Room Tip: Everything is perfect.

This was by far the most beautiful and tranquil place we've ever been! We were greeted with such open arms after our long journey from the airport, mojitos & wine while we checked in, and an escorted golf cart ride with our luggage to our room. Jonathan made sure our every need was taken care of our entire stay.

The room itself, Nayara suite #39, was AMAZING! The accommodations are exactly like they are pictured online, if not more beautiful. Our favorite thing about the room was the view of the volcano and the circular high ceilings.

The breakfast each morning was great as were the drinks by the pool each afternoon. LOVE LOVE LOVE NAYARA and will be back when the new villas are open!

Room Tip: Be sure to ask if your room has a view of the Arenal volcano if you'd like to wake up to it ever...

After reading all the reviews and seeing all the pictures on trip advisor we booked a room at Nayara for our honeymoon. I am so happy we chose Nayara! We knew it was going to be nice but it exceeded our expectations.

When we first arrived the greeted us with our choice of wine and other beverages. The service is great! We stayed in Villa #4. The room was large and beautiful and we had a perfect view of the volcano. We had a hot spring pool on our patio which we spent alot of time in!

The hotel has FREE calls to the US which is unheard of and a wonderful breakfast buffet is included! The wine bar is a great place to hang out and relax after dinner. The bartenders at the wine bar are very friendly and knowledgable about the wine selection. The peruvian food at sushi amor is soooo good. I wans't thrilled about the sushi, but the peruvian ceviche is the best I have had. The arroz verde is also delicious!

The hotel pool is also a great place to hang out because the pool is actually warm! Most hotel pools are cold and you can't enjoy them, but at Nayara the pool is inviting and you can sit at the pool bar and relax.

The hotel was all around amazing and when i go back to arenal i am definitely staying here again.

Room Tip: Villa #4 is located in a different section of the hotel. It was just built, brand new and very nice!

Arenal was the first stop on our tour of Costa Rica, and Nayara was absolutely the hotel highlight during our 10 days in Costa Rica. Whatever minor issues that any hotel stay presents disappear here due to an amazing staff that is both well-trained and simply perfectly suited for a luxury property.

We arranged for travel from Liberia through the hotel, which made things simple. Upon arrival, we were presented with cold towels and a refreshing beverage. Check-in was quick and we were shown to our room, #4.

Lower numbered rooms are closer to the lobby and restaurant. There was never a problem with noise or privacy, however, as the grounds are lush. The room was beautiful - deep, polished woods, a comfortable bed, a large bathroom, outstanding air conditioning. Our room had a deck with a jacuzzi tub, hammock and wood chairs, plus a view of the volcano. All for $245 a night. Are you kidding me? This is the value of the century.

We arranged for tours through the hotel, which I would advise. The tour guides are extremely knowledgable and will help you see wildlife you simply wouldn't see if you were touring on your own.

Breakfast was included and featured a modest buffet, plus an omelet/huevos rancheros/waffle bar. Once again, service is stellar at the main restaurant. Nayara also has a sushi bar, which we thought was okay - not a food highlight, but a nice change of pace. The wine bar is a nice touch, with a card-based "pour-it-yourself" system that allows you to taste many different wines at affordable prices. As a wine snob, I wasn't thrilled with the modest selections and would encourage Nayara to make at least one or two highly premium wines available through this system, but this is really just splitting hairs.

The pool and pool bar presented a nice place to spend the afternoon. The pool was quite warm and had a swim-up (wade-up?) bar with excellent cocktails. There are also several hot tubs above the pool, each with modest privacy.

Nayara is in the process of building a number of new rooms on the hill above the property. We took a walk up there and there is also a new pool and restaurant going in. There was absolutely no noise from construction from our room, and it looks like the new units will all offer the same kind of privacy that we enjoyed.

The property is on a hillside and higher-numbered rooms will require that you slog up the hill or accept a ride on a golf cart.

Finally, I just want to underscore just how outstanding service was here. The entire staff is friendly and always looking to help or answer questions. We had many conversations with the staff and learned about the area from people who had grown up there. I have travelled in many countries around the world and I have rarely experienced a staff that is both so friendly, well-trained, and committed to the enjoyment of the guests.

Some other tips:

Besides that hotel restaurant and sushi bar, there are no restaurants within walking distance of the property, so you'll need a car or taxi if you want to eat off the property. We tooks taxis to the town of La Fortuna, which ran us about $10 each way. Taxis to the hiking areas such as Arenal National Park and the Hanging Bridges will run $20-$30 each way, which made tours more desirable.

We decided to go to Eco-Thermales Hot Springs as part of one of our tours. I wouldn't recommend this, as it's fairly pricey and is actually less luxurious than Nayara.

Room Tip: It's hard to go wrong here. I was happy with having a lower-numbered room which didn't requ...

My husband and I spent a few days at Nayara last week and it was such a fantastic place! Some of the highlights:

*Nayara Suites are spacious, beautiful, and have a lot of privacy. The outdoor showers are a great addition, and the hot tubs are very relaxing. Had a great view of the volcano and was able to see it peek through the clouds one day.
*Service is OUTSTANDING. I've never met such nice people, and had such a wonderful time conversing with them. They stay on top of everything, and met our every need.
*Food was exceptional; especially Juan Carlos' guacamole at Alamira restaurant, and the 5 course wine pairing dinner at Nostalgia. Some of the best food I've ever had!
*The property is indescribable. You have to see it to believe it. They keep it perfectly manicured, and everything is just beautiful.

I've never reviewed a property or vacation before, but this deserves it! We will most definitely visit Nayara again, and hopefully sooner rather than later!

We travelled to Nayara in November 2012. We came to the resort as a dating couple and left engaged. Our stay at the Nayara was simply amazing! Couldn’t ask for any more.

RESORT: The grounds are absolutely beautiful and meticulously keep. There are hammocks, gardens, hot tubs, and sitting areas hidden throughout the grounds. Each day we explored and enjoyed a new area. The pool has a swim up bar and great areas for lounging both in and out of the water. The pool even has a mascot parrot that will be sure to greet you with a “hello”. The wine bar has a great dispenser that is a fun unique way to try different wines. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Available anytime to meet any of your needs.

ROOMS: We stayed in the standard room and really couldn’t ask for more! Each room is your own little cabin right in the jungle. Each cabin is placed at an angle and set back from the next to allow for privacy when on your own personal balcony where there is a hot tub and hammock. We spent a lot of time enjoying coffee relaxing on the balcony enjoying the wildlife and sounds of the jungle.

FOOD: The food was delicious! We enjoyed the free breakfast every morning that was enough to feed you for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast was a wide variety of food and endless fresh amazing fruits. The options changed daily and came with your own personal French press of delicious Costa Rican coffee. This was our first experience with a French press. Loved it so much that we bought one when we got home. They even have sandwiches wrapped for you to take along for excursions or to take back to your room. We also enjoyed dinner in the main dining area, lunch by the pool, and sushi in the sushi restaurant. All the food was very delicious and high quality. We especially loved the sushi! Food was expensive considering what you would spend if you went into town to buy food. Food at the resort was worth the money as long as you budget and are prepared to spend money on food. There was also always huge piles of fresh amazing free fruit in the lobby.

AREAS/ACTIVITIES: The resort itself has different daily free activities. We really enjoyed yoga that included a beautiful view of the volcano. We loved the location of the resort. Far enough away that you felt secluded in the jungle, but close enough that it was a reasonably priced short ride to the town of La Fortuna. You could definitely walk into town if you were up to a decent walk, but we decided not to walk because it was raining. Excursions were booked through an agency outside of the resort and were all reasonably priced. We took the volcano hike and Tabacon hot springs tour with Maria. Cannot recall the name of the tour company, but it was great (even though it rained during the entire hike). Tabacon hot springs were a bit touristy, but still amazing. There were endless hot springs to explore and enjoy. Was very relaxing and romantic after dark and in the rain. The buffet included was a bit over priced and the food was not that great. It was an enormous spread of food, but the food was mediocre at best.

Overall, we would definitely recommend staying at Nayara and cannot wait to return!

This was the most indulgent of our honeymoon trip in CR. We stayed in a casita deluxe for three nights. The room was great. They included a complimentary bottle of moscato for our honeymoon which was a nice touch. The breakfast buffet included in the rate was fabulous! I'd say it was perhaps the best I ate in CR! They had a large spread every morning and everything was delicious. We also loved the jacuzzis, pool and they made great drinks at the swim up bar.
We had a rental car and did not book any excursions with the hotel. Looking at the prices, driving yourself to excursions is the way to go if you have the transportation option. This was a great base for exploring the Arenal area but also treating yourself to luxury in the mornings and evenings!
P.S. We only saw the top of the volcano once while here the four days and I'm so glad I got up early (5:30 am) and woke up my husband for it. That was our first morning and we never saw it again for the remainder of our stay.
