romantic hotel room with a jacuzzi tub on the balcony looking out at Arenal volcano, flower arrangements on the bed, outdoor shower. Just perfect. choice of restaurants on campus amazing: sushi, wine bar with small plates, main restaurant. All water features in a natural setting so relaxing. The staff was wonderful. Just a note about the rainy season (second half of the year), do your nature tours in the morning, because it usually rains from 3 - 5 pm.

Best hotel. Top notch. Unbelievable. Small Luxurious Hotel. Located in Paradise at the base of the Arenal Volcano. Should continue to win the kudos and awards via trip advisor and Travel and Leisure over and over again. No joke. They thought of everything from the umbrellas in case it rains to the flashlights for walking in the dark, to the private balconies with view of the volcano including hammock/chairs/jacuzzi, to the warm orange color that carries throughout the hotel, to the eco friendly key card that controls the electricity in each bungalow, to the open air spa services, and the names of the restaurants - sushi amore, loco amore. ***Also, we were the first ones to use Nayara's newly added service of a consultant who will take couples around in a hotel van with driver to a location of their choosing offering history and nature tidbits along the way. He walked with us down to La Fortuna Waterfall and acted like our personal photographer. We went to lunch in the town with him as well and then he took as back. Was excellent. Thank you to the GM Jairo for hiring him. Please give us his contact info so we can reach out to him directly and give him our best to him, his wife and daughter Amy! Pura Vida!!

stayed 6 nights here and could not have asked for a more dreamlike experience. everything was memorable. The people were extremely nice at the resort and the views were breathtaking from our private bungalow. it rained a little every day but that just made it more romantic. we had time to relax after the wedding, but we also went off property for zip-lining, hot springs, volcano tours and hanging bridges. the breakfast was amazing! too many great experiences, not enough words to describe them all. October was the perfect time to go, it is the rainy season (you are in the rain-forest, so rain is not a bad thing), so less people, better deals and more attention from the tour guides.

The food is expensive but that was expected

in a word: perfect!

Room Tip: stay away from the construction of the new section across the river from the spa

This is probably going to be a boring review because this hotel is simply AMAZING and if you visit, you will use the word amazing a lot!

We stayed as part of our honeymoon and the hotel was the best we stayed at in Costa Rica. We stayed in a Nayara Suite and this is by far the best 'hotel room' we have ever stayed at. The balcony has a hot tub/ bath (although not really big enough for 2), seats and a colourful hammock. Each morning at sunrise, two toucans flew past our balcony- WOW! Despite being huge, the balcony was completely private, which meant my husband could have a bubble bath outside whilst watching birds- again- WOW. The suite has four showers, two inside with lots of room for two- and two outside for a very private, but outdoors feel. The bed was huge, comfortable and with a lovely mosquito net/ curtains- which felt very romantic although we were there in January and there were very few mosquitoes (we didn't see one at Nayara). Every day we had new towel arrangements on our bed, the cleaners were fantastic, yep, everything perfect.

Other lists of perfect things include: the food, the yoga place at nayara springs (you can visit walking over this amazing bridge), the little hot tubs surrounded by nature scattered around, all the trips, the people at reception (who will really organsie you anything- they even helped us have bikes delivered so we could go on a day trip, including giving us maps- and as we left one of the men at reception chased as saying "hey- would you like some water and sunscreen" handing us sun cream and water bottles"), the swimming pools, the "pet" mackaw, room service, the welcome (showing us around very professionally, getting us welcome drinks (anything you like- we wanted cold beers). We also went on a kayaking trip organised through the hotel, again perfect.

For a honeymoon I just can't recommend it highly enough, everything about it screams romance, although because you can organise a huge wealth of activities from spa treatments, to white water rafting, I don't think anyone would get bored having a few days here. Visit!

If I had to have one criticism- I would say that the service in the main restaurant iwas sometimes a bit disorganised. For example, one evening we were seated but not given menus, then a man came over with a wine trolley with a huge variety of wines and we asked for two beers and he said that was the job of our waiter, after which another man came over and asked us whether we wanted his famous guacamole, which looked lovely, but we really wanted some water, beers and a menu- and we didn't yet know whether guacamole would fit with what we ordered. That ngiht it was 20 minutes before we managed to get menus and there were more staff than customers?! Similarly, a different person in the morning is responsible for taking coffee orders than the person responsible for juice- if you order juice from your waiter or the coffee man- you probably wont get it. I say this only because I imagine this is something that could be easily solved so thought they might appreciate the comment- doesn't change the fact that the service was mostly out of this world!

Doesn't stop this hotel being the most amazing hotel though!! Go, visit, you wont be disappointed!

Room Tip: You wont be disappointed with the Nayara Suites!

We stayed for 4 nights in villa 15. The accomodation is spacious, clean, every bit of comfort thought of with double sinks, wardrobes, showers and even an outdoor shower. Beautiful view of the volcano from our terrace set in gorgeous terrain. The outdoor heated Jacuzzi is more like a pool n perfect for the evening.
Now onto food and amneties. Food is fantastic with lots of variety. The sushi and wine bar are a must-try the spicy tuna roll! Your washing is complementary, collected and delivered spotless within hours. International calls free, internet free, mini bar fully stocked and Re-stocked for free and every last detail thought of. The staff are an absolute credit to the resort and made our stay that bit more special.
Our only critisism was of the neck and back massage which we found way below average and that the therapists didn't try and was more like a light back rub.
Aside from this small blip, our overall experience was memorable and the hotel definately worthy of their awards and status as one of the best small luxury hotels in the world!

Things to do:
ATV tour
Zip lining by sky tram
Waterfall hike (only 20min walk)

Things to note:

Villa side main pool: mainly shaded after 3pm so move to the smaller one by the sushi bar if u want to tan.

Prices are very reasonable and expect to pay ~$15 for lunch and ~ $30 for main meal

Don't be shy to call your host and ask for a buggy to be sent as the resort is quite big

Carlotta the resort's parrot is often around and loves her nuts. .grab a pic with her, she's beautiful (but wild)

My wife and I spent five days at Nayara and could not have been more pleased. Our reception was warm and friendly, our room was large, well-appointed and comfortable and the grounds were beautiful and immaculately kept. Although we understood that the hotel was fully-booked during our stay, we were amazed that there were always open lounge chairs, empty jacuzzis and vacant tables at the wine bar and restaurants. We've been to many 4 and 5 star resorts that are over-populated with over-stressed facilities, but Nayara certainly wasn't one of them. The high-tech wine bar is fun to visit, and you should indulge yourself in a massage at the spa (I'm not a massage type of guy, but I though I'd try one and I wasn't disappointed. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the maid service is prompt, highly-competent and unobtrusive. Don't miss Carlotta, the scarlet macaw who appears periodically to observe the activities on the grounds!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the volcano!

FIRST OFF!!! ...... Thank you JONATHAN & RANDALL @ Kali Kali Wet Bar (pool bar near Altamira). These guys are awesome! I don't like coconut and wanted a blended drink. They were nice enough to make the fruit punch into a blended drink with a bit of rum , "The Jennifer!" (ask for it!)... My drinks were always pretty with umbrellas, fruit and the most perfect taste! These guys took great care of everyone in the pool area, brought great drinks and made sure anyone who was hungry was taken care of as well (re: Juan Carlos guacamole in the notes below). Thank you JONATHAN and RANDALL!! We miss you guys!!! Richard & Jennifer :)

Arenal Nayara provided our transportation from the airport to hotel, our driver was fantastic! Friendly and articulate, he even pointed out the Sloth's in the trees on our way there.

Upon arrival, Wesley greeted us at the front desk and provided us with an incredibly warm welcome. We were given warm towels to wipe our foreheads, welcome cocktails and were given an introduction of the property and amenities... the description was incredible but didn't give the experience justice.

We stayed in the Casita Deluxe - the rooms are very private and surrounded with lush foliage. The privacy there is incredible! We had an amazing view of the volcano yet we were unable to see our neighbors. This was our honeymoon - upon arrival, the bed was decorated with towel animals and roses with a Honeymoon sign... very sweet! In fact, we had new "towel animals" on our bed each day! Our room was spacious and gorgeous. I have a feather allergy - the hotel was diligent to keep our room feather free! It may not sound like a big deal... however, it is. My husband and I typically stay in Westin's while in the U.S. and have frequently have to contact the front desk to RE-request feather free bedding.... (after asking 2-3 times in advance).

The food at Arenal Nayara is amazing. Juan Carlos makes an INCREDIBLE guacamole!!!! Do not pass this up!!! The dinner service in Altamira is perfect (as is the breakfast buffet, but that's another story!). We were ordering three appetizers every night - one for each of us and one to share (try the Ceviche!)... a full meal and dessert (the brownie was our favorite!). Mind you, the portions are fantastic... we ordered so much food because it is SO delicious!

We highly recommend Altamira! Amor Loco is a newer addition, the food was good but the service didn't compare to Altamira... the staff at Altamira has their service perfected! Amor Loco provided good service but got our drinks wrong at first, spilled my first drink on our table, and just didn't "WOW" us the way Altamira did! :)

Room service was great!!! :) Our food was brought in, set up and just as perfect as it would have been if we dined in Altamira! :) I am sad that I don't remember the name of the woman that brought our room service because she is well worth being recognized!!!

The spa was beautiful. Our treatments were incredible (we went for a couples massage twice in our 9 day visit). Jairo is the Director of Services and helped make sure our experiences were perfect!

The taxis to town were good. We found that TAXIS LA FORTUNA had nicer vehicles and the drivers spoke English VERY WELL! We called them to pick us up when we went back into La Fortuna. My husbands wallet fell out of his pocket and he didn't realize it until ten minutes after Roy dropped us off. We had one of the information centers call the number on his business card for us, he showed up within five minutes and returned husbands wallet! He found it in the backseat and returned it fully intact. We were so happy with the professionalism and kindness of Roy! This could have been a terrible situation, the honesty and kindness Roy showed cannot be given enough thanks. Thank you, ROY!!! Thank you, TAXIS LA FORTUNA! :) I asked for Roy's information, if anyone wants the info, let me know!!! These guys are great!!!

The Zip-lining was SO MUCH FUN!!! The guys that took care of us had great personalities! They gave fantastic instruction and made the experience a blast! We are in the 30-40 yr old age group and it was great to see people in their 60's-80's flying down the lines with confidence! :)

We had such a great time! The environment was great but the people made it INCREDIBLE!

Can't say enough about Arenal Nayara.... Jonathan and Randall are INCREDIBLE bartenders!!!! Great drinks, well spoken and a lot of fun to be around!!! Everyone loved these guys!!! Our Taxi driver Roy V was so kind, so awesome! The entire place was great but we can't say enough about the people who made our trip so memorable!!!

Carlota is awesome, too! :)

The entire trip was incredible! You won't regret staying here!!!

Room Tip: You can't get a "bad" room.... we stayed in the Casita Delux and it was incredible! C...
