We stayed with another family, for 3 nights in early July. We were 3 adults with 5 children ages 9-14. We had some anxiety regarding staying at what would be considered a honeymoon destination with children but our concerns were quickly put to rest. As most people have already stated in their reviews, this is a beautiful, paradise like setting. The rooms were extremely comfortable, with ample space and a general feel of relaxed luxury. The opening of the adjacent sister property, Nayara Springs, allows for an adult only setting for those travelers who would like to limit interactions with children (it definitely changes the ambience!). For us, the staff uniformly were extremely friendly and welcoming. We saw quite a few families and children. The pool is small but the children were fascinated by the swim up bar and the lounge chairs. They spent time listening to the birds and watching the butterflies. We also took advantage of the surrounding activities which then did not leave much time to swim on property. The food was excellent and all of our party enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The baked goods were warm and tasty. The typical Costa Rican fare was delicious, convincing the picky eaters in our group that there was plenty to enjoy. The adults were able to break away to enjoy drinks at the sushi restaurant and during happy hour (a nice bonus) and experience the lovely setting without our children. We stayed in rooms 22 and 23 which were well located in proximity to the pool, lobby, restaurant. They remained very private and quiet. We unanimously agreed that this was our favorite location to stay on our trip (we stayed in 3 other hotels/resorts during our trip to Costa Rica) and we would come back on our next trip.

Room Tip: Room 22 and 23 are located close to all things, restaurant, pool, secondary restaurants and lobby...

We just returned from 5 nights at the Nayara. We were with another couple celebrating our 40th birthdays- leaving the kids at home. The grounds of the property were green, clean, and gorgeous. Our cabana was extremely modern with a double headed indoor shower, 2 sinks, amazing outdoor shower, and a porch with a jacuzzi and chairs. The water pressure in the showers was outstanding... perhaps from all the rain :) The ambiance is very romantic and suitable for couples, not families.

We took the best free yoga classes each morning with Laura. We felt like a yoga video could be filmed in the gazebo- the setting was perfect. Our plan included all breakfasts and 3 course dinners. We were glad we chose that option. The food was delicious and we got our money's worth. They leave plastic bags in the breakfast buffet so you can stock up for lunch.

Shout out to Norlan the waiter - he was "our man"!! In fact, all of the staff was amazing- including Claudia at the front desk. They greeted us by name when we walked in the lobby, helped us plan our activities, and they all knew our room number. I happened to leave some wet clothing at the hotel after I left. When I called to check and see if they found it, they not only washed and dried it, they said they will mail it over to the US for free.

We did incredible activities. Although it rained the majority of the time we were there (rainy season), it did not rain for any of our events... Zip Lining with Sky Trek, Canyoneering with Desafio Tours (WOW!!), Ecoterminales Hot Springs (go at night), Volcano Tour (Walter the guide was amazing).

We had a fabulous time! Thank you for giving us this unforgetale experience!

We had a two night stay here on our Costa Rican holiday. From the moment we arrived we felt like royalty!
The room was very nice, unfortunately we didn't have a view, just a high screen of plants, we asked if there was a room with volcano view available but there wasn't.
As it happened it rained most of the time we was there! The grounds are very nice, you just appear upon jacuzzis, ponds or a couple of hammocks. A fantastic place for a honeymoon.
The breakfast was fantastic, lots of hot and cold choices, the best juices we had in Costa Rica and on the last morning at breakfast the clouds cleared and the volcano was visible for 15minutes! A perfect end to a lovely stay.

We just left this amazing hotel. The service is so amazing: They are on it 1000% and very nice. It is not cheap by any means, but it is worth every penny. The rooms are beautiful, the food was great. It has the WOW factor over and over. The infinity outdoor Jacuzzi as a part of your room, the dual outside shower etc.. They don't nickel and dime you : almost everything is complimentary. My flight was cancelled to come down there the first day so I missed my first day. Even though it was passed the cancellation period and I had not purchased any trip insurance, they still credited me the first day I missed. I will definitely come back and stay longer next time!

This place is beautiful. Bright flowers and green foliage surround the outside of your room. You can see the top of the volcano and hear monkeys from the trees. It is breathtaking. The staff is very friendly and clean. Every time we came back from an outing our room was clean and bed decorated with towel animals.

Room Tip: We relied on an agent to book our stay. I believe any room would be just as beautiful.

I just came back from my trip and I absolutely love this hotel. We got the suite and it was fabulous. The room was so spacious and clean and we had the perfect view of the volcano. We were so lucky to be able to see the volcano from our room the second day and it was sooo beautiful. It's like Mount Fuji without the snow caps. I like!
I also love the balcony with all the seatings, hammock, and jet tub with curtain. The bathroom was also fantastic, especially the outdoor shower. We used the outdoor shower so much more than the indoor one. They plant broad leaves trees to keep out the rain so you could shower even in the rain. The hotel ground was clean and well maintained.
We used both of the pools and they each have different feels. The food at the Kali Kali pool bar were great. We had the iguana fries, hungry croc sandwich, and quesadilla. I love how they have built in table so you could eat your food or drinks in the pool. The food at Amor Loco was really delicious as well. I love their desserts menu as well (the coffee with ice cream and crumble cookie crunch oh so delicious). We love the breakfast that they have every morning and the personal omelette station was a great touch. They also have packed up sandwiches and granola bars for guests who have early excursions in the morning.
The only part we didn't really like was one night at Altamira. We ordered The hearts of palms appetizer which we didn't like at all since it tastes like uncooked cabbage. When we told the host that we didn't like the dish, instead of trying to make it right or offer a different dish, she was simply told us that she liked it. .??? That was a really strange reaction and show a lack of professional service training. I hope they can improve after this encounter.
We also used the gym and I love how they have water and vanilla mint infused towels in the fridge for you. It was super refreshing after our workout. The Springs side also have a sauna, steam rooms, and a great reading room that feels like you are in a giant tree house among the sky.
We booked all of our excursions through the hotel and it was an easy process. After each of our excursions, the employees always welcomed us and asked about our experiences. Everyone here is really friendly.
Last but not least is our shuttle service to- from the airport. Diego was our driver both trip. He was so punctual, polite, knowledgable about the land, and a great driver. He picked us up around 7AM in The morning when we arrived and drove us back in time for breakfast. He also helped taken care of our luggage. We also had to leave around 2am in the morning and he was there, bright and shine and gave us a safe ride back to the airport regardless of the rain and windy road. He also have delicious chips In the car for you to snack on.
I highly recommend Nayara!

Room Tip: Room 40 was the perfect location. Far enough from the pool and restaurants so it does not get noisy...

Although it rained almost 24 hrs a day while we were there, we loved this hotel. The rooms are gorgeous, the staff is so friendly and the food is so delicious. The Peruvian cerviche was the best and we loved the guitarist at the dinners. The rain did not stop us from going on excursions like zip lining, coffee plantation at Down to Earth, horseback riding, La a Fortuna Falls, Eco Termales hot springs and Ecocentro Danaus.
You will love this hotel over looking the volcano!
The only downside is the winding ride from the San Jose airport that took many hours.
