This volcano is worth the visit - big black crater, impressive! Sadly the lake has gone due to the dry season (2014) but it's still breathtaking. Not much education, look up geology and tourist info before you go. Don't expect to learn too much - no rangers or guides - but it's worth it. You basically walk free around this volcano. Toilets on site. Entry is contained in parking fee (VERY cheap: $2 per person). The drive up the mountain is a buena vista (good view)! Most people wear a sweatshirt but I was alright - a bit windy, but fine.
NB - no restaurants nearby other than Linda Visat (the one with all the letters and business cards plastering the walls). Don't bother - expensive and not good. Last resort only. Take a packed lunch!
