Hotel Reventazon is very conveniently located in Orosi. It is an easy walk from the hotel to the church, bars, restaurants, banks, etc. It's easy to find and usually there is enough parking in front.
It is American owned, although I have never met the owners - 4 or 5 stays, but I don't really need to. The problem is that they always have young volunteers running the place in exchange for a place to stay. Cleanliness and such vary with the volunteers. My last visit was very nice - the young couple from CA was very diligent about cleaning the rooms. The time before it was awful, like sleeping in an ashtray. I would recommend inspecting, and smelling, the room before making a decision.
There has been some talk about the property having been renovated. My room hadn't seen fresh paint in many years, although I noticed some upstairs rooms had been painted. They charge a little more for those rooms and I think they have small refrigerators as well. The only improvement to my room was cable for the same small old TV, although nobody could locate the control.
The prices are good and the proximity to town gives you plenty of opportunities to eat inexpensively. I will probably stay there again, being careful to check out the room first.More
