“Nice, but not really that special”
Reviewed 8 February 2014

As part of a tour package, we were allowed to use the hot spring pools at The Springs. The pools ranged in temperature from 97 to 102 degrees F. The pools were somewhat difficult to get in and out of, and with the water being naturally cloudy, it was often hard to see the steps underwater. Watch your step and be prepared for a few bumps. If you go there as a non-registered guest, you will want to bring a change of clothes, and maybe some toiletries if you plan to have dinner afterwards.

We also had dinner from a limited menu as part of the tour package. The food was very good, and the staff was very friendly.

“Amazing view, wonderful place, not crowded”
Reviewed 21 January 2014

I felt like this hotel was so nice, The beds were fantastic, was very impressed with the large tub and spacious bathrooms. They had a lot of fun options, one of the neatest experiences we had on our 10 day trip to Costa Rica was tubing the river, Gorgeous view, enough bumps to make you feel like your having an experience, recommended for all ages. My mother-in-law 63 had a blast! It poured rain, and ended with a spectacular view or a waterfall, with warm springs pouring down. Other members of our family went to the "zoo" and said it was fun. The food at the main restaurant is where we ate breakfast every morning, and dinner most nights. It was some of the better food we had in Costa Rica, but pretty average otherwise. Their Virgin Pina Coladas are fabulous though! The Springs were really fun, the waterslide was a hoot and a holler for all us 16 adults, enjoying being a kid again. It felt much more private, and we enjoyed that it didn't have crowds everywhere you went. We spent time at JW Marriott in Costa Rica as well, and decided that we enjoyed this hotel a little bit more than the other.

“Great place to go”
Reviewed 8 January 2014

Though the Springs Resort is expensive to stay at, one can stay somewhere less expensive and visit. The day passes are great.
The children and grandchildren loved the hot springs and had a great deal of fun on excursions kayaking and horseback riding. The restaurant from where they take you on the excursions had the best beans I tasted in Costa Rica! Eat there.
The hotel itself has so many restaurants and a comfortable lounge to sit in and relax.
There is a great view of the volcano from the lounge and all 5 floors of the hotel.

We had a little mix up when we asked for a taxi and the doorman said he would ask the manager if the hotel car would take us back to our hotel. Turned out the driver of the 'hotel car' said he was an independent operator and wanted, not a tip, but full payment for the ride...it wasn't much but it's always good ot be VERY clear on these matters.

“Great springs. Poor buffet. Not cheap”
Reviewed 5 January 2014 via mobile

We loved the springs. Much more quiet than the other springs. 5 star resort so not cheap but worth going. Food in the main buffet was poor.

“Great place to spend a few days - very luxurious”
Reviewed 31 March 2013

I loved this resort and would have loved it more if we had actually been able to get a room. Instead, we spent two days there with the day pass and went tubing, kayaking and got to see the wild cat preserve with monkeys and toucans. There was plenty to do there and even when it was raining, the kids enjoyed the monkey slide and playing in the hot springs. The staff could not have been more helpful and the food was very good. The food at Las Ventanas restaurant was excellent, as was the service. Nothing was crowded, everyone was so friendly. My only warning is that the red minerals in the natural hot springs will stain your bathing suit.
