My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Lost Iguana and had a magical time. 2 of the 3 days it rained so we had one sunny day to do the zip lines and go to Hanging Bridges. (Both were great!) The other 2 days we had even a better time relaxing at the resort. The spa was amazing and I forced my husband to have a couples massage and he is now addicted. Its hard to describe the beautiful spa, I've never seen anything quite like it. The bungalows are off a winding wood trail and antique double doors open to a breathtaking room. It is completely open, but glass doors can be closed during the massage to keep the wind from coming through. On the balcony overlooking a river, we had our feet exfoliated in rustic wooden bowls. Then we had the massage with a fire going and heated linens and towels. They didn't have music playing which I really liked. I could barely stay awake listening to the river and rain on the thatched roof.
We loved walking the trails to the restaurant and pools in the soft rain - definitely felt like a tropical rainforest. Every afternoon we relaxed in their heated swim up bar. The staff was amazing and did everything to make us happy. They even had specials during the raining days. They dried our clothes for free and had happy hour from 2-6. Their mini bars in the room have basically the same prices as in the restaurant, so it made it fun to relax on the balcony when we wanted time alone. We loved this hotel so much that we are planning to bring the family back this summer. A special thank you to Martin for fixing us a special romantic dinner for our honeymoon. What a fun surprise.

This hotel was fantastic! Every hotel employee was very helpful, friendly and ensured we had everything we needed. We stayed in a luxury suite and was happy we upgraded. We had our own private jacuzzi tub and the shower was outdoors - super cool!! I would certainly stay at this hotel again!

Room Tip: Luxury suite!!

We arrived late for only one night acomodation and fell in love.
Dinner was the best of the week at this resort, and the setting was intimate romantic, the staff was friendly and accomodating.
The private balcony to view and listen to nature was really sureal.
The bartender was amazing and so was the companie, we met a super fun couple from France who owns a restaurant on the swiss alps, and wished we did not left without exchanging email adresses! If your out there, nous somme les gens du nord de l'ontario et nous on ete a la peche la journee prochaine.
Caught a guapote in lake Arenal, was a great day fishing with captain Ron.
date: November 16 2011.

The Lost Iguana Resort and Spa is still by far the most dramatic and panoramic volcano and private rainforest experience in Arenal. The rooms and terraces are vast, the vistas are post-card stunning, while the quietude, service and privacy are levels beyond anything else available in the area. I have stayed 5 times and they always meet my expectations for experience, comfort and food. And it feels like home....perfect for families or honeymoners. I Wouldn't stay anywhere else.
MM, Bali, Indonesia.

Room Tip: Just ask for a view and a quiet room.

That was our second time at the Lost Iguana hotel. The hotel is looking at the volcano and is uniquely located. Last time the Arenal was visible and it was an extraordinary show we could watch all night from our bed. This time, it was raining but we did like the large room with the little patio in the middle of the jungle, the outdoor very large showers, the outdoor jacuzzi. You just feel so remote and at the same time the wi-fi works perfectly. The hotel is close to the Hanging Bridges and the lake, very convenient for walking and hiking. The breakfast is disappointing.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the volcano, the bed is in the middle of the room and you can see the volcano from your bed.
