An excellent trip with great email communication prior to even getting there. Everything was ready for us at our official start time with helmets and gloves available if you didn't have your own. Being recreational riders we chose the easiest ride but still my wife was getting sore part way through the ride. Moe had the truck meet us for gatorade and fruit after our stop at the water fall and then had the truck follow us the rest of the way in case my wife couldn't complete the ride. The bikes were new and clean and well tuned up. No junkers to be seen. The added bonus is the free fish massage at the waterfall from the tiny fish eating away at your dead skin as you got to stop for a refreshing swim. Big bucks if you get it done at a spa.

Guana Bikers did a wonderful job! They met us at the airport and also picked the bikes up from us at the rental car agency at the end of our trip. It was really above and beyond - plus, the bikes were in great shape and made out trip that much more exciting. Thanks so much, Mo and team!

Guana Bikers created an absolutely first class mountain bike tour for my wife and I who were visiting Costa Rica for the first time. We are recreational cyclists comfortable with rides of two to three hours in length.

Arrangements were all made by email with Moe who went out of his way to describe the various tour options and to find a tour that worked for both my wife (road biker, not a mountain biker) and me (anything on a bike is good). He even set up the bikes to accommodate our height and riding preferences.

Bikes were good quality hard tail Giant bikes, disc brakes, 3x7 or 3x8 gearing with more than enough range for the terrain and very comfortable seats!!

Guana Bikers arranged for transportation from our resort, Allegro Papagayo to Liberia and return. It cost extra, but well worth the $$, easy and peace of mind.

We met Moe and and our guide Jonathan in downtown Liberia. In less than 10 minutes we were riding with Jonathan while Moe left in the sag wagon to rendezvous at our lunch destination. Through the streets of Liberia into the surrounding countryside on gravel and hard pack roads and trails where we hardly saw any traffic other than a few other cyclists, pedestrians, and the odd herd of cows being shepherded to fresh pasture.

The ride was of moderate difficulty, mostly due to some uneven road surfaces, short climbs in very sandy soil and of course the 32 C temperatures. We passed through shaded ravines, farmland and pastures, all the while feeling very safe and energized by the beauty of the surroundings. Guide Jonathan was very attentive, helping us navigate through tricky downhill turns through sandy terrain and ensuring that the cycling pace was at our ability level. During the ride he shared lots of interesting information about Costa Rican culture, politics, and economy.

After 11 km of cycling we arrived at our lunch destination, the most beautiful waterfall in a remote location that can only be reached by bike or foot. After a quick lunch of cold, fresh watermelon we hopped into the water and enjoyed the welcome refreshing spray from the waterfall.

My wife opted to return to our destination in the sag wagon with Moe while guide Jonathan and I rode 15 km back to town where we all met up and enjoyed a magnificent afternoon meal at the historic Cafe Liberia.

If you can assemble 4 riders, the cost is about the same as a full day resort excursion. My wife and I paid more as it was just the two of us and there was a bit of customization to suit our preferences. It was well worth it! Moe and Jonathan are great hosts; we felt welcomed and special.

We would go back to Costa Rica just to ride with Guana Bikers again!

Had a little trouble organizing the trip as I was riding alone .The easiest way to finalize the tour is to phone from the front desk of the hotel. It's not long distance. Guanabikers made the tour possible by supplying the transportation from the Riu to Liberia. Gave me his full suspension and he rode hardtail. We rode desert tour in the morning.Nice trails, rock and water ..Lots of sun.Would wear long sleeve next time. Stopped for a break at the cable bridge then proceeded to a horseback ride up the mountain. Rode past the new Geo-thermal being built while on the horses.Walked in to the waterfall at edge of the park. Worth the trip and then Iron Horse in the afternoon. Lots more sun. Fast, mostly downhill.Ends at a refreshing creek. Had a great time. Nice scenery. Seen a lot of back-country. In hindsight, might have toured around the back streets of Liberia a little more just to be curious. Would definitely recommend Guanabikers for their promptness and service.
